  2. Acceptance!! Woooot! School: University of Regina Concentration: Clinical Type: MA/PhD Date of acceptance: Feb 4th Notified by: email from POI FYI from POI: The committee met this morning with ranked applicants. Unofficial offers go out today. Official offers will out in a few weeks!
  3. YUSSSS congrats!! You get to enjoy your weekend now hehe
  4. That means if those offered admission decline, then they would start giving those waitlisted (you) interviews/offers of admission! Hang in there there is still hope!
  5. Haha YUSSS celebrate the little things during this draining process! Keep us posted I have faith you'll hear something good VERY soon
  6. Yusss those are the best!! I had something similar over Skype--the POI was basically trying to sell me the program/get me to work for them. Received an unofficial offer of acceptance two days later haha I hope that's the same for you
  7. YAYYYYY Congrats!! Break out the champagne hehe
  8. VERY VERY rare circumstances. If you don't meet min requirements (GPA, GRE) then they would not give you an offer (although I assume the psych department already ensured you meet requirements). Congratulations!!
  9. Has anyone heard anything from UManitoba? It's been radio silence so far haha
  10. I mean, if they're just starting out/newer, they might want to grow their lab asap and take more than one person I'm not sure how common it is but its def a possibility!
  11. I'm currently in my fourth and final year in my undergrad. I'm applying to Canadian Clinical Psych programs that are MA/PhD or MSc/PhD, and it has def been nerve-wracking hearing that most people don't get in straight out of undergrad. I've been VERY fortunate as I've already been accepted to a program and am interviewing for 2 others. It CAN be done!! My GPA is NOT a 4.0, but GRE scores are V: 161 - 88th percentile Q: 158 - 58th percentile AW: 5.0- 92nd percentile I have a diverse amount of research experience (started two months into my first year, have done work in a number of fields: health, social, personality psych, etc). Did a paid research internship in Europe after my 2nd yr. Have received awards/funding to conduct research, etc. (Pls keep in mind I cannot speak for the States and what your chances are there)
  12. Hey, I would check out the following threads and post your question there: https://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/113162-fall-2019-school-psychology-applicants/ https://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/114495-fall-2019-school-psych-interview-invites/
  13. ((waves)) Me too! I'm currently in my fourth and final year in my undergrad (Yeah, I rushed my undergrad aha, uncommon for psychology nowadays).
  14. Woot woot CONGRATS you two !! Nice to see acceptances going out!
  15. Haven't heard anything at all. Presumed rejection at this point haha
  16. Woot Interview #3! School: University of Regina Type: MA/PhD Clinical Psychology Date of Invite: Jan 28th, 2019 Type of invite: Email from POI for Skype Interview date(s): In 2 days LOL
  17. Echoing my colleagues above ^^, that doesn't help you at all (except peace of mind). So simply, don't ask. If the POI offers up this information (as mine did), then great. Otherwise, no need to ask
  18. I think the main issue, similar to why there are a certain number of spots for med school, is due to the lack of internship placements available. Rather unfortunate.
  19. Yup, that's exactly what I did for Dal, and that's how I got early admission there before Christmas. I second that and now tell all my future clinical psych hopefuls this valuable piece of advice. I was lucky as Dal gave my POI all the choice! It is idiosyncratic with every school/department however.
  20. I was doing some cleaning (KonMari method hehe) as I felt the compulsion to clean that day. Had all my electronics turned off. And then had a gut feeling that my email was pinging. Booted up my laptop, and low and behold two emails from the school I was accepted to! I actually clicked on the 2nd email first which didn't read like an acceptance email--so I was confused for about 30 mins re-reading this same email before I realized I had totally missed email #1! Lo and behold, email #1 stated "Congratulations!..." I called my closest friends and just sobbed incomprehensibly into the phone ahaha
  21. Hmmm... yeah so Dalhousie does what you've highlighted above ^^ New faculty members essentially get the cream of the crop, and whoever they choose is submitted to the FGS committee for approval (aka your basically accepted due to POI choice). I guess it'll just remain one of the mysteries of the universe! haha
  22. Basically, you should convey to ANY school your interviewing with that they're "one of your top choices". If you don't communicate this, they might not consider you further/shortlist you. Also, check out this thread: https://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/115262-say-youre-invited-to-an-interview-at-your-top-choice-school-whendo-you-convey-that-they-are-your-top-choice/
  23. Yes, as expressed above, please don't make a new thread for this. Also check out:
  24. General questions about the program, potential collaborations, q's related to the city/living in X.
  25. I have the opposite situation--I ended up having to apply to a different POI then the one I'm currently working with, simply b/c my current POI does not take individuals that do their undergrad here. It sucks cuz the POI I work with is a fabulous mentor/the lab is wonderful/matches my research interests. Ugh. Regardless, I'm sorry to hear that, but chin up cuz you made it to the interview round!! That's a fantastic feat within itself. Be personable and professionable and just nail it!! Think good vibes
