GOT INTO THE VILLANOVA MA! Funding pending, but I am OVER THE MOON! 

Okay, I heard back from the grad program coordinator at Davis! He was very friendly and helpful, and even gave me a few direct quotes from the Adcomm. Ultimately, there wasn’t much to work on—he said that my app was highly rated by all 3 profs,  the comments were almost entirely positive, and that they thought my WS was “very competently written” and “strong,” but not as interesting as some other applicants, and that they think I would probably benefit from getting my MA. The transparency and clarity of his email makes me feel better about the denial letter, and encourages me that the Adcomm had positive feelings about my app as a whole! Might look to get this kind of feedback from other schools.

!!!!! This is where my favorite scholar (should I have a favorite scholar? what if she thinks i'm a dumbass? what if i'm actually a dumbass?) teaches and where one of my mentor/LOR writers earned their PhD! 

So, where are you cool kids going this fall?  

Thanks for making the thread, @dilby! And, YAY, @mandelbulb!! I literally just made my decision official today. I, too, will be attending UCSD's Literature department in the Fall! So excited to be a part of such an interdisciplinary and transnationally focused department!

In further craziness, I just had a paper on Frankenstein accepted for presentation at a conference on the Gothic! I’m shook! I didn’t think I would get accepted and I only applied for practice writing abstracts. It feels really good to be already be building my app for next cycle if I don’t get into Villanova. 

Well, the third phone call to Baylor (after two ignored emails and two unhelpful phone calls), Baylor finally decided to let me know that I had been rejected back in February, but they failed to send any sort of formal rejection until yesterday afternoon. 
 
That wraps my cycle up at long last. Thanks to you guys for all your support! I’ve enjoyed it. For better or worse, University of Southern Mississippi here I come!

have you heard anything from FSU at this point? I'm assuming i've been rejected but it's getting late! 

Has anyone heard anything from UC Santa Cruz? Last year I got my rejection 2/21...I wonder what's going on. (Fiction applicant).

And apparently Emory's not done stringing us along, as I have yet to hear a peep from them since applying. Same with NYU... It'd be nice to just have some closure.
BTW I'm also waitlisted at GWU; have you heard anything from them besides the form letter on the website? Wondering how the waitlist works etc.

Can we, for the briefest of moments, reflect on the fact that Berkeley’s accepted students weekend is next weekend and they’ve yet to send out rejections? I’m under absolutely no delusion about my status with them, but it’s just rude.

just got the acceptance to UChicago's MAPH with $10.5k scholarship. feels like someone threw a handful of nickels at me

Not officially buuuuut I got a phone call with some preliminary good news  

Waitlisted at GW. Just need NYU and Emory to put me out of my misery and I can wait this out I guess.

I declined Brown. I committed to Chicago. I hope that gives someone on the waitlist good news!

I emailed NYU today as I've also not heard back, and the official word is that decisions will go out early next week.

I finally had the call with UCSC and am so happy to say I've been accepted!! 
I should have known with the email saying they wanted to talk, but with how the season has gone I had so much doubt. I am ecstatic! 

Just got a call from Dr. Sae Saue offering me admission to SMU

Turned down UC San Diego today! Hope that helps a GCer out there
