Consistent Email Refresher
I was fortunate to get several acceptances but the deadline’s quickly approaching and I’m still really conflicted — I’m visiting Boulder and Vanderbilt this next week and am hoping that will help, but I also still love MGH and can’t bring myself to turn any of these three down yet. Anyone else deciding between similar places?
sfp2015
Boulder is one of my top choices as well. Would love to hear any info you learn about it when you visit!! I've been to Boulder before but didn't see the campus/department at all. Good luck with your decision. I'm from Boston which is a great place to live if you decide on MGH

I would have toured Baylor but they just let me know of my acceptance yesterday, which doesn't leave me with enough time to tour before I make a decision. MassSLP2be
I just committed to MGH IHP today! I'm so relieved to be done with this crazy process, and now so excited for the next step-my future! Jbslp95
AH-SLP
HI everyone, I am at a complete stand still when it comes to picking a program. I am between Hofstra and NYU. I know people who currently go to NYU, but I don't know anyone who goes to Hofstra, so if anyone has any insight about the program please let me know! I'm sorry that I don't actually have an answer to your question -- I know nothing about Hofstra -- but I was wondering if you'd be able to share whatever info you've gathered about NYU. About what people think of the program, the classes, the placements, etc. Would be very much appreciated!

However, my friend and I weren't as impressed when we went for accepted student's day. The therapy rooms in the clinic are small (that's Manhattan for you), and you don't start seeing clients until your 3rd semester (summer). For some this isn't problem, but for me it is. They are affiliated with places all over the tri-state so I don't imagine field placements would be a problem. Also, while you're doing your field placements, you apparently aren't taking any other classes except for maybe an elective, so that could be nice. The professors are definitely at the top of their field, and they conduct a lot of research. They also do a study abroad program to Sweden. But if you choose this, you either won't graduate in two years, or you will have to do the intensive track in order to graduate within two years. I would also double-check on prerequesites, because I might have to take two extra classes my first semester if I go there because they were not offered at my undergrad, which I'm not too pleased about either! Let me know if you have any other questions!
snoves
I am also between two programs and am having a really hard time choosing! And the 15th is coming up so quickly! I'm currently between Arizona State and San Jose State. Here's kind of my pros and cons about everything: 1) ASU: Cons: Out-of-state, have received no funding at all. Probably going to cost around $40,000 for the whole program if I don't get funding Pros: AMAZING clinical opportunities, bilingual focus that's exactly what I want to do, a lot of opportunities to do internships in just about any setting, really great research opportunities, seems like it's easy to maintain a part-time job while in the program 2) SJSU: Cons: hard to get medical internships, tends to be more pediatric-focused, gonna have to live with at least a few room mates to afford rent Pros: in-state, I'll get a grant that will cover a really good chunk of tuition as well! also has great research opportunities, also has a multicultural/multilingual focus If anyone has any insight in to ASU/SJSU I'd really appreciate it! Sorry for the long post lol

Just a couple more questions: Do you know if NYU is usually good about scheduling placements that are geographically convenient for the students? Have you heard anything about that? Also, you mentioned something about the intensive track -- what exactly is the intensive track? Thank you SO much again!

The intensive track basically means you graduate in five semesters instead of six, but you would have to take more classes in your fall, spring, and summer semesters I believe. But instead of finishing in the summer of your second year, you would finish the spring of your second year. That was originally my plan but with the prerequesites I would have to take, I would end up taking 20 credits in the fall. Hope this helps! snoves
Lol update on my dumb life: Yesterday I got a call from one of the faculty members at Arizona State and they offered me the PrISMS grant. I'd applied for it a few months ago but was originally denied. The grant pays for all of the out-of-state tuition, half the in-state tuition, and provides me a stipend. I also get to study Multiculturalism/Multilingualism, which is my DREAM! With how much money they're giving me for the grant I'll be able to pay for the program almost entirely out of pocket, so I decided to attend ASU! I am honestly still feeling shocked but incredibly excited and thankful!!! 20SLP20 and HooHooHooHoosiers
