Just cruel to send an email like this the week I'm expecting to receive their admissions decision... just cruel

I cursed in three languages after seeing this email. Maybe today is the day?

BIG BRAIN TIME

not actually in this cycle, but hoping to apply in the next cycle or two so I've been lurking and seeing what I can learn from the experience. Best of luck to all of you, and when you get in make sure to come back and post every now and then to help the rest of us poor suckers out

Just saw the first posting about Rice - a waitlisting. Has anyone else heard anything?

I did not get any e-mail yet, but I checked my application portal after reading your post. I got my rejection letter as a status update there.

Same here, not surprised since it was my worst fit by a large margin. I applied because my wife and I live in Houston. Rejection sucks, but considering the application fee was waived, it doesn't sting all that much. 9 more to go, hopefully we get some good news soon!

Anyone heard anything from GW? My portal still shows "under review" but someone posted a rejection.

Claiming rejection from GWU. No email. Found the decision on portal. Congratulations to those accepted!

Claiming a Wisconsin-Madison theory acceptance. You all had me terrified; I saw the results page this morning and have been waiting to check my email all day.

First acceptance. This has been a very long adventure so far—for now, I’ll just say that purposeful tenacity pays off—and I’m excited for it to continue.

Best of luck and congratulations to all!

Is Northwestern done with sending acceptance letters?  I see 6 admits already.  But most of them seem to be International applicants.  I wonder if they'll send another wave of acceptances to domestic applicants.  Maybe I'm just engaging in wishful thinking....  :/

So, I can only speak from what I saw last year, but northwestern really blows when it comes to notifying applicants. I think last year they stretched it all the way to March before they told folks. It really sucks the way they do it.

i think a lot of you guys will unfortunately be waiting a while for a closure with them ?

1. Dwar is correct that Northwestern will often send out multiple waves of acceptances and rejections.

2. Six admissions is a pretty tiny cohort for Northwestern.

3. Barely-late January is also pretty early for Northwestern.

4. I’m not too sketched out by the low stats on some of the results—Northwestern is known for being pretty liberal with GRE scores—but I am sketched out by the fact that none have been claimed.

If it’s trolling, it’s a slightly more skillful type of trolling than we’re used to seeing, but I’d still place a modest bet on this being a fake-out. If it’s not, I’d place a much less modest bet on there being more admissions to come.

Since no one has claimed an acceptance in this forum, I think it is safe to assume that it was just another troll.

One person claimed an acceptance with like a 148 verbal and 153 quant score.  Is it even possible to get into Northwestern with those scores?

I mean they submitted the 148/153 on the results list, no one actually claimed it on a post here on the forum.  Sorry if I was unclear

I actually think the northwestern admits are accurate. They often put very little weight on the GRE and a good GPA from a good school goes a long way (which the previous low GRE post had). A lot of people don't know about this forum and only check the results page which is why people have conversations on there instead of here. Last year they came in one wave about the third week of Jan too. I hope I am wrong - but I have lost a bit of hope at this point.

I mean, I don't like the GRE and I think it should go-- but a 148 verbal score for a top 20 poli sci program seems like a huge red flag.  That's like the 30th percentile.  Maybe you're right, but it just seems unlikely a score that low would fly with ad coms.  I'd think that anyone with a basic grasp of English (even a poor test taker) could at the very least reach the 50th percentile.  This one seems like a troll IMO.  Maybe not the others though.
