Mine just changed to "invited" too! In good news for anyone who's on the waiting list, I'll be turning down the offer as soon as it shows up on the applications portal seeing as I've chosen UWO's counselling psych program. :)

Hi,

I can't check the ROSI until I get home but I am waiting on The MSW 2 year program from U of T. I too got accepted to the MA counselling psychology at UWO, but I was going to accept UofT's offer if i get it. Now I'm not sure which to choose if I can.

Just wondering what made you choose UWO?

thanks,

Hey Kallima,

Were you just accepted today?

No, I was accepted March 21 with scholarship.  I know a few people who were accepted that week, so I would say that they began their selection!  That being said, Laurier has been known to accept people as late as June.  Did you apply there Erin/did you get in?  :)

I'm a little slow jumping into the "online forum" stuff.

Thank you very much. I hope so! As the 1 years said- I won't believe it until the package comes!

Congratulations, DreamingMSW!

And for all my talk of just "wanting to know," right now I'm wishing I didn't know that I could check ROSI.  No status change for me either.  I'm hopeful that this means wait listed with hope as opposed to an outright rejection.  In my head I'm trying to rationalize things like "what if they started at a different end of the alphabet?" so the letter next week will at least give me a clear, unambiguous answer that my brain can't twist irrationally.

I wouldn't have any doubt that it is for real.  During the advanced standing application period everyone who had an "invited" got an acceptance package.  Everyone who had nothing were either waitlisted or rejected.  Never heard of anyone getting an "invited" and not actually being in.

thanks,

I'm interested specifically in some of the research bring conducted at UWO, and have long term goals of possibly applying to a clinical or counselling PhD program after practicing for a few years and starting a family. I'm also more interested in joining a private practice than in practicing in community settings. More generally, UWO has a much smaller cohort size and more individual attention, and the coursework seems more interesting to me. Plus, I got SSHRC funding at Western. I might have had it at UofT too, but I'll never know because I accepted the UWO funding offer the minute the status changed on the research portal!

People getting accepted at U of T...could you, if comfortable, provide your stats? Just curious!

DreamingMSW, I remember reading that you did not get in last year and not understanding how that was possible. More proof that very qualified people can still be waitlisted/rejected one year, and accepted the next. Big congrats. Must be such a relief. Clearly very well deserved.

Congratulations to all who got accepted! All the hard work has certainly paid off!

Haven't seen any change on my Rosi account, I hope there are more acceptances this week or next...

Did anyone that was accepted already have a ROSI account and Student number?

Congrats to everyone who was accepted.

That is so kind of you to say. Thank you so much. I am a true believer that if you want something bad enough and you keep persevering it will work out. I also believe that things work out the way they should. In all honesty, being waitlisted last year and the ultimate rejection put life into perspective for me. Prior to that I really rested everything I had on this MSW. I honestly put all my self-worth into getting accepted. When I didn't I decided to reevaluate things. I started realizing just how much I had in life and just how fortunate I was. I also started realizing that if I wanted it badly enough and if it was meant to be that it would happen eventually. And that really calmed me down. I decided to live in the moment and not put all my self-worth into getting to this program. Even this year I knew that if it didn't work out I would keep on going and constantly persevere so that I could live out my dreams.

Downfalls are not failures. They are the gas that keeps us going. At least that's how I see it. You are not a failure if you are waitlisted or rejected. You are not hopeless. Just keep your head up and it will work out.

Best of luck to everyone. I believe in all of you.

Big Congrats to you!!

No word yet - I've applied for the 2 year distance program (leadership). Non-stop checking my email. Do you know if your status in your U of C account changed?

Thank you! My status hasn't changed online yet, they said in the email that it would take a few days for the online system to change. It seems like they are sending the letters out according to the stream you chose because someone got accepted to the one year program like 3 weeks ago. So they probably haven't started sending out letters for the distance program yet. Good luck!!
