Has anyone heard back from Icahn yet? I know others have receieved acceptances from Dartmouth and GW, but I am still waiting to hear from them as well - did they first contact you by email or snail mail about their decision?

I heard back from Icahn almost immediately. I applied October 22nd and was admitted in November 7th. I was contacted via email.

So, I called one of my schools today to check on my application status, the lady said that the admissions committee had made a decision, but she "wasn't able to see it" on her computer. Was this just her being too afraid to tell me I was denied? That was the vibe I got...

I worked in the admissions office during undergrad and when people called to find out their status, that was basically what we had to tell everyone, regardless of if they were accepted or not.  I think a lot of places have policies about not giving decisions out over the phone, for both acceptances or rejections.  So I'd try not to freak yourself out too much :)

Thank you!! Hopefully I will find out soon!

My dear Public Health people, I need some advice. So, I applied to 5 schools so far, two programs each and I haven't heard back from any schools yet (partly because I applied after priority deadline). Anyways, I see that a lot of people applied to at least 10 places. My question for you smart people is: should I continue applying to other schools or just wait to hear from the ones I've applied thus far? The pool of places I've applied so far consist of a diverse mix of top programs and safe ones.

Wait. My biggest regret is how many schools I applied to. It was a waste of application and GRE fees. My fear of not getting in anywhere made every program seem appealing, but in retrospect, I could have applied to about 5, had a good mix of top programs and safety schools, and still had the option of a diversity of programs.

Yeah, dude, what katethekitkat said. I ended up applying to 7 schools because I was worried about the slight chance of getting dinged at the 4 schools I'd consider attending. Now it's just 3 schools of application fees and time&effort wasted because I'm simply withdrawing.

I guess it depends on your mindset and how much 80-100$ means to you. If you'd rather be safe and/or have the dough to apply to many schools - it certainly doesn't hurt anything.

Colby, I applied to 4 schools (2 programs at a few of them, and all top schools, no real safeties), and don't regret it at all. Chances are, the 5 schools you applied to are the 5 you want to attend, and any others you may apply to "just in case" won't be players in the end, anyway.

In other news, the waiting is killing me now. I've heard back from BU (waitlist) and Emory (accepted into MSPH GLEPI), but still waiting on Berkeley and HSPH. I'm really happy with Emory, and I would have no qualms attending... but I am anxious to hear back from everywhere else!!! I have strong ties to Boston and would love to get back there (did my undergrad there), and was disappointed by the BU waitlist (though the program was not a good fit for me, so it wasn't unexpected). I just want to knowww!

Thank you everybody. It's nice to have other people's insights. I was getting the same feeling as well. I guess I just needed to hear from someone else.

I got my official GW acceptance for the masters in health policy today in the mail. It said I was referred for review for a merit scholarship and that awardees would be notified in March.

Rejected at Columbia. Kinda stings even though I've made my decisions already. Only waiting on UPenn and Cal now.

Congrats to all!

Just was notified of an acceptance at Harvard for the ScD program in Environmental Epi

Do you know how many spots are open? Were you also notified about funding at the same time?

Congrats on Harvard!

How do you like Columbia's Molecular Epi program? I applied to their doctoral program, but haven't heard back :(

Screen name an homage to epigenetics?

Thanks! Yeah, of course it is!

I really enjoy the Columbia Mol Epi program, it also it what you make of it. I have done my fair share at being really involved in the department, but a lot of the professors that I've hard are absolutely fantastic!

Best of luck!

Probably a little late to this thread....

I applied to University of Texas Houston Health Science Center customized MPH program in Austin. Application deadline is 3/1. Emailed program to see if I could get a confirmation that they have received my application- no word yet.

E-submitted through SOPHAS on 2/4 and my application was verified and mailed the week of 2/20.

GPA: 3.2 GRE V: 162 Q: 148 (yikes) W: 4.5

I don't see too many people talking about Texas on this thread...so any intel is great. Just a waiting game now.

Good luck to everyone.
