I just received an e-mail from Parsons for an interview! This is my first response from all New York schools so far. Because it's so soon I'm going to interview via Skype.

Congrats!!

I have applied for Parsons too but haven't heard a word from them yet ... which program did you apply for? Mine is industrial design, don't know if they require an interview...

got my official rejection letter from SAIC (applied for painting)

anyone else get invited for the post-bac program? I feel like it's just a money maker for them and I am not actually "one of a few applicants who is being encouraged to consider this opportunity" ?

I got invited one year, decided not to go. I worked in an admissions office, have applied to grad programs many times (and gotten in) and my words of advice are DON'T DO IT. it is a moneymaker.

I was invited last year and felt the same way.  BUT, one of my friends did do the post-bac a few years ago and he says very positive things about it.  I guess if you do the post-bac you are guaranteed an interview if you apply at SAIC the next year. It just seemed really over priced to me.

just my 2 cents on post bacc:  post-baccs actually can be a good idea if you think maybe you just need a year of some full-on studio time.  the goal is to prepare you for grad school so if you think that kind of opportunity could help you do it, but yeah it is an awful lot of money.  If you think you want to wait another year and can work independently and you already have a community for critique... then yeah don't do it.
whatever you do- don't go to a program that you're not 100% sure about just because its something to do now.  that is the biggest mistake you can make!

continued good luck to you all!

You were right! I finally got to my snail-mail and I got accepted to both PAFA (Merit Scholarship & Grant) and UArts (Grant)! Yay!

*high-fiving a million angels*

Hi, new here. I also just got accepted to PAFA! Was wondering if merit scholarships are for 1 yr or 2… pretty sure it's for one? Fishing for opinions. Need to just call the school! Thanks!

I am in the same boat. I've gotten a flat out rejection from one and wasn't asked to interview for two others. I really really hope I hear something good from one of my other two soon. Where all did you apply/in what area?

i applied for painting at vcu, yale, rutgers and iu bloomington. i probably should have applied to more places but i was stupidly optimistic!

I attended Pafa for a few years of my BFA - if either of you have any questions about the school or Philadelphia, I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my ability (:

keris - While I was there, my merit scholarship was per year (the same amount renewable for both years), but that was for undergrad, so I would double check with them just in case. And congratulations!!

So have all of the Alfred sculpture interview requests gone out then? It stinks when they send out a mass email for interviews but not one for rejections. I just want to know whether or not I should hold out hope.

Also, anyone heard anything from Pratt or Penn State?

Did you get an email from Alfred today asking you to visit campus one weekend in the next few months?

Yes I did, but I wasn't sure if it was a general tour type thing, or an actual interview request. I emailed admissions just to check, but haven't heard yet.

I read on the website that she is on leave; not sure if that was for 2015 or this coming summer.

Hopefully it is an interview request. Seems weird to send out an email of that nature for candidates likely to hear of rejections before visiting. I was going to call tomorrow.

Let us know what you find out. I got the same e-mail. I applied to the ceramic program. Did anyone else get the email?

I also got the email about a campus visit. There is a link where you can schedule an interview with admissions, but I'm assuming this is an email from the university that may have gone to all applicants, maybe even undergrad. I also applied in ceramics, and I'm assuming an interview email would have come from the department? Also seems like an official interview wouldn't have a range of choices from this weekend to April.

It was definitely agonizing to receive an email like that before hearing any other news from them!

dleewinn, where else did you apply in ceramics?

Hey there everyone wondering about Alfred. I received two emails from Alfred today - one was an interview invitation asking me to choose a time for a Skype interview with the faculty committee on either Feb 23 or 24. The subject line of this email was "Alfred University MFA Skype Interview" or something of the sort. The second email was the general one about the campus visit, which I think all applicants may have received. I applied to Sculpture/Dimensional Studies and am not sure if interview emails have been sent to other departments (or even if all Sculpture interviews have been sent). Good luck all, fingers crossed for everyone!

Is the MFA coming off the columbia slideroom still a thing?

yay 1 more thing for me to freak out about.

Mine still says MFA in slideroom.

When i was reviewing forums a few weeks ago it was really hard to determine if it was actually a thing or not.  I feel like i saw people who said they no longer had MFA there with signatures that actually did say they got an interview later.  I don't know maybe I'm wrong, I'm trying to look through this forum less and it doesn't seem to be working out for me haha.
