Michigan. They are the only three I'm waiting for official responses from, and I'm starting to feel like I want to make a final decision. I haven't combed through the results page at length, but it seems like these schools have already sent out acceptances. Am I jumping the gun? These schools would obviously be contenders if I had offers from them, but it seems like those offers aren't going to come. Is it really just wise to wait and get the official responses? Or can I finally commit and start getting pumped about the program I'll attend? I sort of feel like I want to express to the school I'm currently leaning toward that I am eager and excited to join. Unfortunately I think Brown and Michigan are done - I was admitted to both and I've gotten detailed info about campus visits, so I'm pretty certain all acceptances are out. As for Yale I'm in the same boat as you - probably rejection as well. On another note, rejected at Columbia too. Got a personal email from a person I interviewed with, not an official notice from the school. But, it does mean that if people don't hear today, it's likely an implied rejection.
anon4now Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Hope this helps people out: I've been accepted into Columbia's Ph.D. program in English and Comparative Literature. Received an email from the DGS this morning, and my acceptance letter appears on the application website. I was not interviewed, so this was totally unexpected. The email says over 540 people applied and they hope to admit on average 16 students. Not sure how that translates into number of people accepted. Best of luck to the rest of you still waiting! la_mod, eyeshadow, Captain Cabinets and 2 others 5

Congrats @PoeticsofPossibility! Time for me to continually refresh my inbox. I've pretty much assumed that I've gotten all my positive decisions for the season, but I'm pleased with how things have gone.

There are font and color options, as well as an upload file option for pictures. Hope that helps! Kate- 1

Congrats! I know people who are doing MAs in each of those universities (one in Music and one in History) and they both love it! You have two great options to choose from!

NYU dates seems to be all over the place in the last few years so its hard to guess. brontebitch 1
anthrostudentcyn Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 I'm not an applicant in English, but a friend of mine heard last week of an acceptance at Columbia.
phoebusrising Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Has anyone heard an actual rejection from BC yet? I just saw that someone posted in the results forum that they contacted the department and were told their application had been forwarded to the MA program so I'm wondering if it's likely that's the case across the board or not. Unrelated - how long should one wait between receiving an acceptance and contacting the program to ask about when funding information will be coming? I heard back from a school - but not the department itself yet - and so have heard nothing about the TAship I applied for and like. I'm not a patient person by nature so I'm never sure when is appropriate to just ask such things directly.

If you had other offers that you were strongly considering, you could justify contacting them earlier, but otherwise, just remember that there's a good reason for them to do things the way they do them...especially when it comes to funding. When funding info isn't available up front, it usually means that the department is having to liaise with the Graduate School (or elsewhere), who often have their own timelines. This is especially true when fellowships are involved. Either way, it's sometimes hard to be patient, but...be patient.

Yeah I know, things are just a little weird to me because I had originally applied for Spring admission (and ultimately deferred to Fall because of funding, though for them deferral is not automatic admission just consideration again) and heard from the department several days before I heard from the Graduate School, but this time I haven't heard from the department at all.
Zelda Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 It's Monnnnday! Best of luck to everyone as we (im)patiently await what this week will bring us! allywally 1

It stated that if you applied for the PhD, but also noted on your application that you wanted to be considered for MA, your application would be forwarded to that program for review. Was there any change to your portal?
PostmodernPendulum Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 So, I've been on grad cafe a lot over the past few months, but I've mainly been looking at the other discipline I've applied to... Just wondering..has anyone heard back from Purdue for the Rhet./comp. Master's program?

But I don't know if that's only for PhDs, or MAs too. When I was applying for the MA two years ago, I was accepted into Purdue's program on Feb. 27th; but I'm sure it varies year to year. I still haven't heard from them, so definitely assuming I'm waitlisted or rejected this time around. Hope it works out for you!! PostmodernPendulum 1

Yanaka Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 (edited) Call me a little paranoid, but all of these latest acceptances into Ivies seem to be for the same person, and that person has a helluva choice to make Edited February 28, 2017 by Yanaka
Avalanched Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I was just looking at that @Yanaka. Seems like one person added the acceptances from nearly every Ivy across the past couple weeks. Lucky duck!
zombiekeats Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Still waiting on official word from Michigan, Boston, and Columbia. Ugh, I just want to rip the band aid off and have done with it!

I got a phone call--probably the kindest phone call of my life--from a POI this afternoon. Accepted to the PhD program in Literature, with top funding award! Waitlisted at UChicago and waiting to hear from a few more programs. Definitely excited about this option. It's a great fit for my interests (postmodernism, self-consciousness) and a location I could be happy in for many years. Any chance you know anything more about UCSC? I'm just trying to figure out if they've finished notifying or if they're still in the process! Thanks!
