Yale DOES DO interviews. For my field (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology), we interviewed in early February. They have been releasing acceptances since mid-February.

As far as Berkeley goes, I received my acceptance from Berkeley on Jan 26th.

Looks like you may be a bit lost -- this is a thread for applicants for programs in English Literature, which has far different application procedures, timelines, etc from the sciences.

Okay so I was accepted to NYU's Masters program (denied from the PhD) and I'm really freaking out! NYU was my number one choice--it was actually my number one choice for undergrad too, but I didn't get in then. The problem is that I was also accepted to Fordham and they're giving me sooo much money, full tuition and a generous stipend. NYU I think is offering me 50% tuition (it was kind of vague so I'm waiting for the official letter to get more details). I don't know what to do guys! I told myself that I would absolutely choose Fordham if I got into NYU, but I honestly didn't think I had a shot of getting in so it was easy to say before the decision was made. Help.

You got into Fordham's PhD program or their MA? If it's their PhD program, I'd definitely take it. Fordham has one of the best financial packages going. There are fit considerations, sure, but I assume you've already thought about those.

Sorry, yeah that was unclear. I got into Fordham's MA and NYU's MA. I'm trying to figure out fit now. I mean, they both have a good focus on what I need, which is why I applied. But I'm trying to sort through and compare their relative strengths and weaknesses.

Okay, I see. That's definitely a toughie, but I'm sure you'll figure it out  

This is the not-so-latent hippie in me speaking: I think if it were me, I'd review my persons of interest and their recent work and really tap into which of them gets me the most excited. Like, meditate on it awhile. Go with your gut. There are a thousand ways to rationalize the decision and everyone is going to tell you different things regarding the facts, but at the end of the day, you know best. Trust your instincts, even if they may not make 100% sense on paper.

Follow the money. If Fordham is giving you a lot more, go there, but if you'd go deeply in debt even at Fordham, I'd recommend declining and reapplying with a focus on more fully funded MA programs. Search these forums on NYU's MA program and you'll find that it, like UChicago's MAPH, has a very mixed reputation. Cash cow programs can work for some people, but especially if you're not independently wealthy or something, the debt for a humanities degree is not a good idea.

WOW I just received another offer from CU Boulder! They called me!!! They are unable to offer me admission into the PhD program (they only accepted 4 students) but would love to have me in the MA!!! Really thrilled; it was a nice phone call. First phone call of the admissions season and was really terrifying. Funding will be offered later.

Just got an acceptance email from the University of Washington!! This was the last school I was waiting on and a great fit for my interests so I'm super stoked. :)) offered a first year fellowship as well ah

Got rejected for NYU's PhD program but was accepted for the MA. Letter was warm and inviting but as it's only a 50% funded program (not including fees, etc) it's probably out of the cards for me this year.

Was the email notification personalized? Just trying to feel out if maybe UW is done sending acceptances at this point. It feels like my last shot at an admission this year so I'm pretty much starving for information!

Thanks! And yes my email was very personalized, it made detailed references to my research interests and the professors I named in my SOP. So I think they're taking their time and still sending out admissions decisions probably They might also be sending out notifications depending on different funding situations? I got a fellowship so maybe they notified me early and they'll be notifying other people as the week goes on. Hope this was helpful, I know it's a really stressful time!! I'm pulling for ya

Holy shit, I just got into Oxford!  Rejections from both Columbia and NYU, so yay this! Going to be biting my fingernails until I hear about funding (nominated by the English department for scholarship funding, but I'll have to wait for the Humanities division to make their final calls).

Good luck to you! I hope you get a PhD acceptance, but I'm so glad you got into BU's MA. I got a letter from Boston College and they declined my application. So one acceptance and two declines.

Just got an email from Northeastern. Rejected from PhD program but accepted to MA program with a Dean's scholarship (which, unfortunately, only grants a 25% tuition waiver). I definitely won't be accepting this offer, as I have some fully funded offers already. Hopefully that means a person on the waitlist (if they have one) will get some good news!

Got into Old Dominion's PhD in English today. I have a family and 3 young kids and a full time instructor position where I live, so I was thrilled to get into this program because of their distance option.

Hello, all! I've been lurking for the past few days; I wish I'd known about this place earlier! So I have good news, bad news, okay news, and questions.

• Good news: I was accepted at Kent state with full funding on Monday!
• Bad news: I was rejected by Michigan State a while back (expected).
• Okay news: I'm on the wait list at Ohio State. I know some others are, as well. Here's to hoping that everyone ahead of us got offers that were better for them!
• Question: Has anyone heard from Arizona State (Rhet/Comp)? I've been checking their website every hour for the past week. I've developed a twitch.

BTW, after combing through your descriptions of your writing samples, I've had quite the flair-up of imposter syndrome. Quick, someone tell me I'm valuable!
