I hope we will find out soon. Good luck!

openarms Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Just to let McGill applicants know, I received an offer for the MScPH program on Wednesday. Offers are therefore trickling in. If anyone has any insight into the program that they would like to share which could be useful for those accepted or future applicants, I would greatly appreciate it. Good luck to those waiting to hear back and congrats to those who have already heard back! goalsforgradschool 1

mphkeener Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 (edited) Hey! I only applied to Western's MPH- What do you think my chances are? Average: 91% President and founder of an organization that builds confidence/public speaking skills in community youth 4 years of clinical research (around 800+ hours) 2 years of part time of a public health related research project Lots of executive positions within clubs at the school community, in which some of these clubs were global health/public health oriented (was able to show some advocacy , leadership) Some academic awards Edited February 23, 2018 by mphkeener

On a general note, I work with graduate students and their best piece of advice for applying to grad school and receiving acceptances and rejections is that it's best to recognize that graduate schools accept students on different merits. For example, if you apply to graduate schools that are thesis or research based, potential supervisors play a role in the types of students they want to take on because they have to carefully consider a) if they'll have funding to do research and b, which students they would want on their research. That means it can vary year to year how many students they take on. For other programs the requirements do play a role. For example, if a school wants their future applicants to have a strong mathematical background, that plays a huge role. If a school want students with diverse experiences, that affects their who they select to be a part of their cohort. I've seen students rejected out of medical school who have perfect GPAs and great volunteer experience simple because they scored a decimal point less than the person that was given a seat. The healthiest way to cope with graduate school admissions and not get stuck in an unhealthy mental loophole is to recognize that they accept on different merits and after your application submission it is out of your control. You submitted the best application that you could and it's best to occupy this time with hobbies, work, or other activities. Don't let the decisions of graduate schools reflect on yourself because there are many variables out of our control blind_faith, thaniecs, oneMPH and 5 others 8
goalsforgradschool Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 (edited) McGill has also sent out rejections. I received on today. I applied knowing that it was a long shot. I understand that it is quite a quantitative program and my calculus and statistics marks barely made average, so their decision it is understandable. Good luck to everyone! I intend on using this time to do things I might not get the chance to do in grad school If we get in, success! If not, there is always next year
DBH Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Hey has anyone applied to MPH at UofT in Epidemiology?
vancouverrunner Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Anybody heard from UBC yet? The website says students will be notified in Feb or March. I applied for the MSc in Population and Public Health. Hoping to have gotten in despite a lack of quantitative research experience. We shall see!
futurejdmph Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 has anyone gotten any update on their application status from SFU? I haven't seen a single update at all - it hasn't been updated to even "submitted" or anything for me - is anyone else seeing the same thing?

My application has said "submitted" since January 15th with the green dot beside it but other than that It's been radio silence. If it doesn't say submitted, it may be good to check in with the grad advisor to make sure your application went in okay! Wishing you luck
