Where to?

I have heard that some schools require you sign a contract at the beginning of the year that says you won't work. It totally sucks and my best friend (also a speech path grad) kept her job at starbucks during grad school. She said she would only work on Saturdays but sometimes the director of the program would tell the cohort "oh you have to be here on saturday" and because of the contract she could never use work as an excuse and would have to be there. She often left her work in a bind because she would have to call out.

I got an interview to the low residency program via Skype. California hires SLPAs, that's where I work!

How many grad schools did you apply to?

I've heard AMAZING things are Eastern Washington!!!!! & I also applied to SM. -
My friends have done them :] I also work with a lot of speech paths.

If there is a writing component, they normally do the opposite of what they asked in face to face.. if they asked you about yourself face to face, the writing component will definitely be more clinical (i.e see comments above about handling clients) if they ask clinical face to face they will ask you to tell them about yourself, or why you want to go to the university or why it's a good fit for you.

Yeah and I still have notes and stuff if you get into that class just let me know!

For that one, I was actually in Europe for 14 days. The professor let me work ahead completely and it was super manageable.

No it was a 8 week course, started June 5th and went to August 8th!

hmm it's CSD 150, i took it during the summer so maybe that's when they offer it.

Try UWEC. I took intro to comm disorders there and the professor was so nice!

I realize it can be quite unfair to list interview questions from a specific school. Although, I like the idea of the conversations we all have in helping each other out. Some college career centers offer mock interviews. If you're unable to go to one, you may want to prep in other ways. I think it would be super helpful to post possible interview questions as well as an mock interview questions you may have had, WITHOUT stating the name of the school. This may give us a way to ease our nerves and prepare for this interview time :] Some questions I have come across: 1) Why do you want to be an SLP? 2) If you could have any super power what would it be? 3) What do you specifically like about our program?

I did the same as you!! Where in CA are you from? -
I did them while working full-time but it was very hard to maintain anything outside of this. The professors vary too in their toughness. I had one where it was impossible to receive an A without studying at least 10 hours a week.

They are very fast paced.

I have talked to a lot of schools that have said they don't think any differently of you if you're out of state or out of a 6 hour drive. They understand and that's the whole reason they have Skype interviews offered.

You're too sweet. They must be doing it in waves. I think I submitted around the same time but for summer's only track :] fingers and toes crossed! seriously, congrats!!!

I have my undergraduate degree in Speech Path. Most programs that require this will just ask if you have an umbrella of knowledge in an area. Most schools don't offer this, unfortunately. -
