New York Graduate Schools
Alyspeechie replied to slpgirl898's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
You guys should also look into Yeshiva University MS SLP. They have a great Med SLP program. https://www.yu.edu/katz/programs/graduate/ms-slp/admission-tution I think the admissions I emailed was katzgrad@yu.edu -
I'm still on the waitlist or 6 of the 7 schools I applied to. All schools told me that they cannot provide any information on my rank or when I would hear a change in status. It is driving me crazy to say the least. I don't know whether to hold on to hope and believe that I will get off one of these waitlist and be accepted or to give up and move on with my life. Someone help!

Ugh still waitlisted for all the schools I applied to. I've been in this same position since March and it is agonizing....

Help! Columbia Teachers College vs. NYU
Alyspeechie replied to newyorkslp's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I know students in both schools and it seems that TC is more organized and has better support from faculty especially when it comes to completing prereqs and being on track with the rest of the cohort. I vote for TC but it's up to you!- 3 replies

When do we hear from schools? (NY applicants)
Alyspeechie replied to mightyslp's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Well speaking for my friends on the NYU waitlist please don't force to convince yourself. There's a lot of us just hoping to get off this list. Good luck in your decision!- 57 replies

I think she means for on campus? You were probably accepted for online @sincerelycree. @InternationalSpeechie looks like acceptances and waitlists went out a few weeks ago.

Is it too early to accept an offer?

Guess I'll give them a call. Did they specify any contact person on your acceptance letter? -

Hey I see you've been accepted to NYU, congrats! I'm still waiting to hear from them. Did they give you a deadline to accept? I'm trying to figure out if they're sending out decisions in waves. -
Does anyone know if they've sent out all rejections, waitlists, and acceptances yet? I know some people got decisions a few weeks ago but I still see a few haven't?

Am I being realistic for Fall 2017?
Alyspeechie replied to lindsayg1993's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I'm thinking of switching the degree option. Are you almost done? I feel that I won't have enough courses completed by the time apps are in. -
Hi guys, I will be applying to grad school for fall 2017 and am deciding between getting a second degree (post bac CSD) or just completing the required courses needed at the schools I'm applying to ( no degree). The degree option will take longer and cost more. I'm already with a huge loan from undergrad but I do need to raise my GPA to get into grad school...

For the online preqs are you getting a second degree or just taking them as a non-degree? -
Very Low undergrad GPA, will a post-bacc help?

What's the difference in terms of GPA calculations when it comes to taking CSD courses as a non-degree vs post-bacc? -
Paid internships in SLP?
Alyspeechie replied to Alyspeechie's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I know right! -
Hey guys, are there paid internships in SLP? I was offered an unpaid one for the Fall in a big city, but I'm not sure whether to take it because of financial issues and loans from undergrad. However, it's an amazing opportunity and would really add to my application and resume.

Very Low undergrad GPA, will a post-bacc help?
Alyspeechie replied to Alyspeechie's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Thank you! It's in Linguistics. I've been looking for shadowing opportunities but no luck. I'm in the NorCal area too, any ideas? PM me. -
So my undergrad GPA is a 2.55 and since I've graduated there's nothing I can do to change it. It's low due to personal reasons. I'm just wondering how much a postbacc would help in getting me into grad school. If I get a 4.0 for postbacc will it give me a chance or will my undergrad GPA haunt me for the rest of my life?

Hi everyone, I am considering applying to a TCU and ACU next cycle. However, they and some other schools I am interested in are private Christian schools. I am not Christian and don't know what to expect. However, these schools are within my GPA and GRE score range. Does it matter in this field where you go to grad school? How is the quality of education at private Christian schools? Are you expected to learn about the faith in your coursework? Any input would be helpful!!

Did you get into Midwestern in AZ? I heard they accepted many people with low GPA and GRE scores. Wish I had applied. -
Most Holistic Admissions Process? Help!
Alyspeechie replied to theominousfuture's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Holistic admissions does not exist anymore. This is a truth that none or very few of the schools are willing to admit because they want your $$. I am sorry to be so blunt, but from my own and others experiences, the ad coms have become OBSESSED with perfect scores and GPAs. They want robots, not ordinary people.
