  1. I would go if you were invited! It would be a chance to meet the professors so they can put a face to your name. Will you be hearing from them before the open house?
  2. I feel the same way! I was so sure that I wasn't going to get in because my GPA isn't great so I applied to as many schools as I could. However, If you had told me that I would feel silly about being so stressed 3 months ago I probably would have slapped you lol
  3. I got rejected by Arkansas today. I was totally expecting it and wasn't planning on attending since I've been accepted to more affordable programs, so I'm not bummed. It's just nice to have closure from one more school. In other news, I think someone on the results page applied to almost all of the schools I applied to. I keep seeing their results pop up at the same time as mine. It's weird because I have yet to find someone who applied to some of the programs I did, I feel like most people are applying to West Coast or East Coast schools. If you're lurking here, hi!
  4. I was invited to an Open House at Missouri State University when I was accepted. I have not chosen what school I will be attending yet, but I would like to attend the open house to get a feel for the program and meet the staff. Do you think it is ok to attend the open house before committing to the program, or should I accept the offer of admission first?
  5. I got an email with the subject "WSU Graduate Application" and I freaked out!!! It was just an email from the financial aid department letting me know that my application was received and that I should be hearing from them in the next two weeks -.- I JUST WANT TO KNOW ALREADY
  6. I got accepted to the University of Oklahoma yesterday! I was so shocked. Now I'm waiting on Michigan State, Arkansas, and Wichita State. I won't be attending Michigan State or Arkansas regardless of their decision because I've been accepted to less expensive schools, but I'd reallyyyy like to go to Wichita. I've been checking my email every 20 minutes like a crazy person!
  7. This has happened to me three times with Wichita State! They emailed me once and called me twice. I was finally able to talk to someone and explain the situation to him and he promised to make a note on my account so they wouldn't call me anymore lol
  8. I removed myself from the waitlist at Oklahoma State today. It was so hard to do even though I have been accepted to programs that I would rather attend. This process has been anxiety-inducing from start to finish
  9. I've been accepted to Missouri State! I visited the school in July and loved it, but I didn't get to spend much time in Springfield. Does anyone know anything about the area?
  10. Michigan State, Arkansas, University of Oklahoma, and Wichita State! I'm waiting to hear back from these schools before making my decision. I just want the waiting game to be over
  11. I got waitlisted after interviewing at Oklahoma State. I submitted my application in November and the due date was January 31 so I don't think the date I submitted my application had anything to do with it
  12. I'm sure it's different for every school, but the Open House I was invited to (which I'm assuming is like an accepted students' day) was described as a day to tour the facility, meet faculty and fellow students, and ask any questions I have about the program.
  13. Same!! I'm just so afraid that I will miss something!
  14. Thanks! I got a letter in the mail so that's why I found out today and not on a weekday (but I still obsessively check my email haha)
  15. I got accepted to the University of Central Oklahoma today! This is where I'm doing my undergrad so I was really afraid of getting rejected lol. I'm still in shock!
  16. I just got accepted to Missouri State! Did anyone do their undergrad there? I visited the school in July and loved it, but I'd like to know more about the school and the area.
  17. I just got an acceptance from Missouri State!! I can relax a little now that I know I'm going somewhere
  18. You can do it if you really think it will help, but I don't think they will care. This may sound harsh, but you're way more desperate than they are. They have a waiting list of people who will willingly attend without funding, so why would they take the time (and the money) to give you a better offer?
  19. I've never heard of negotiating with grad schools and to be honest I wouldn't attempt it in this field. In other fields that may be common, but SLP is so competitive that I would be too scared of an admissions board taking away my offer and giving it to someone else.
  20. I'm so jealous of those of you who have heard from more than 1 school already. Almost all of the schools I applied to don't notify until mid March
  21. I would imagine that it's for people who will be applying for Fall 2018. It seems kind of late in the game for schools to be having open houses for 2017 applicants.
  22. I wore nice black pants, a button up blouse, black shoes with a little heel, and a simple necklace. I haven't seen many people wearing suits here, but it certainly couldn't hurt. I think it's better to be a little overdressed than underdressed!
