  1. I hate this. I think all week I'll be on pins and needles with nerves. Thanks for the info though!
  2. Congrats on the waitlist! I am also curious as to how you were notified. I am assuming from this that I didn't get in, hah. There were so many qualified applicants!!
  3. I am waiting on all but the University of Oregon (rejected): Pacific U, Portland State U, Western Washington U, Eastern Washington U (have an interview w/ EWU on Skype 3/9), WSU (didn't get an interview so i think that is indicative of what the response will be), ISU, Redlands, CSUN, CSUF, and Radford U. The waiting is killing me. I expect to know from Pacific and Radford in the next week or so, and maybe WWU and PSU by the following week. Everywhere else I think isn't until maybe the end of March/early April.
  4. ISU sent an email saying they are aiming to get the first wave of acceptances sent out by/around the beginning of April. WSU has started interviews (I didn't get one, ) and said that we'd know by the end of March. (I think not getting an interview is a pretty good indicator of where I stand with them, hah!). Best of luck to you!! I have no clue with Ball State... I didn't apply there! Hope this helps a bit. Which ISU campus/distance did you apply to?
  5. Good luck @maurmaur! Thanks for the info. I guess WSU is not the school for me. haha.
  6. @maurmaur How did your interview go with WSU? Did they say anything about when you'd hear about acceptances/rejections? I'm assuming by this point if I haven't gotten an interview there yet then I am not going to get one at all. It's just funny getting an interview to EWU and not WSU. Good luck!
  7. Oh my goodness, there have been so many acceptances this week! Congrats!! I'm still waiting to hear from my schools. I know that several of my schools haven't even begun to look at grad applications, and that this year has the highest submission rate. (not things I want to hear). I'm hoping to know something soon... (pulling my hair out!)
  8. Yes! All of their placements in Portland hospitals, other local town hospitals, and schools- They have no on-campus clinic. However, you might not always get where you want with what you want to do because they have to share placements with PSU.
  9. Yes, it was at Pacific! The campus is beautiful, and everyone was extraordinarily happy. The tour of the campus was real short because the only building that really matters for us is the one where all the SLP classes are. It was gloomy and rainy the whole time, which matters for some people. There is really no town here so if you get in and decide to go there, live in Beaverton or Hillsboro or even Portland if you want to make the drive. I went to the only 7-11 in the town at around 10 pm the night before at it was pretty sketch. But the few homes and life I saw in the town during the day was very cute. (just super duper small, the town is the campus and like 2 minutes of streets).
  10. Although I might have to just leave early, I left early for the same class yesterday to fly out to the interview I had today. I don't feel comfortable asking again as my professor is extremely inflexible. A friend of mine just suggested trying to rent a room at the library. I hope I can get one... Poop.
  11. I have a predicament in regards to an upcoming Skype interview of mine. I get out of class 15 minutes before, and don't have time to head home as I am about 20 minutes away from the campus (30 minutes if you include the time to walk to my car). Should I set up in the school library? People tend to be loud at times there, and I am worried this would look unprofessional. I don't want to go to the communication disorders library at school because that would be rude to the department and anyone else studying there. I also don't want to reschedule because I've already committed to it. I'm assuming I'll just have to risk a corner in the library, or a lobby of a different building. Any and all suggestions are very much so wanted/appreciated. Thank you!
  12. I had my interview today, and was only asked casual questions about myself. I don't think I could have prepared too much for these questions aside from some good introspection. There was nothing clinical to brush up on. I have another interview (hoping to add the /s morpheme to make that plural, hah!) soon, and I have no clue what to expect there either. This is rough, emotionally speaking.
  13. I'm still hoping to hear from them, but I did get an email for an interview with EWU today. Is the WSU interview via Skype?
  14. "Judge not lest ye be judged?" Isn't that a thing written in a book or something supposedly spoken by someone important at one time? I'm not sure, but I don't think the judgment helps. I appreciate the effort at advice. It seems as if it is coming from a kind place. The anxiety at this time can be debilitating, with or without a community to vent to. We are all here to meet some sort of socio-emotional needs. Each person has their own particular reasons, with their own particular backgrounds. Comparison may be there. Community is a possibility as well. Knowledge and discussion on how to prepare for interviews is helpful, or even how to pay for potential grad schools. There is such a vast variety of reasons to hang around this website. The important thing is that we are capable of choosing our own actions and dealing with the consequences appropriately. Doing so is all right. For whatever reason we are here, we are. If it's detrimental to our mental health in the long run, I hope to be able to grow some from the experience. Congratulations on moving along to grad school! That's fantastic for you. I hope to do the same. I will sit right here and check this site daily though until I am accepted, and probably some after, because it helps me for whatever reasons it does. Thank you for your well-intended advice.
  15. @jmk Are you staying at the Best Western mentioned in the letter? I'll be there.
  16. Whelp, I bought a black dress and a blazer that is professional looking, comfortable and covers all my tattoos. As far as shoes go, what are we supposed to wear if it rains (which is the expected weather for Friday)? Although we've recently had a TON of rain here in Los Angeles, I am not used to the rain and am ill-equipped for rain weather attire, especially in an interview setting. Boots? Wet feet with ballet flats?
  17. Ideally, I'd like to interview in my pajamas. True comfort.
  18. I completely forgot about H&M. I'll have to make a stop there this weekend. Thanks! @SpeechLaedy I used to work at an expensive punk rock/funky boutique. Unfortunately, it catered more to rockstars and the clothing from there does not transfer at all to an interview.
  19. What is appropriate? What do you plan on wearing? What are some of your favorite places to shop for appropriate interview attire? Any job I have had before has not required any sort of professional attire, so I really am clueless about what to do here. I am a jeans and a t-shirt sort of gal, and I know that won't fly in the world of speech-language pathology. Further, I have to make sure my tattoos are covered (on my foot, arm, shoulder, and back of neck) but that should not be an issue since it will be chilly in Oregon next week. Please post with what you'll be wearing or your opinion on what is appropriate. Thank you!
  20. I am in Los Angeles. It's really far, and I have an exam the morning before, but I don't do so well on Skype and am quite good at in-person interviews (at least from previous job interviews).
  21. I will be there on 2/24!!! Well, I'm still trying to figure out if I should reply and ask for a Skype interview or make the trek out. I'm SO grateful to be considered though. I want to make the trip... ACK!!!
  22. HOORAY!!! Pacific University invited me to interview on 2/24!! I haven't replied yet because I don't know if I should make the trek out there or ask for a Skype interview. I am in Los Angeles, and the flight plus hotel would be pricey... Thoughts??
  23. I'm in a similar bind with my undergrad/overall GPA from CSDCAS. Except it's with a much lower GPA. Before CSDCAS, my cumulative undergrad GPA was 3.03 and the CSDCAS calculation marked it down to 2.97. Most of the schools I applied to have a 3.0 cut-off for admittance. (i'm hoping they look at the last 60 units where I have a 3.9 GPA, or at my CDS GPA of 4.0) I emailed all of the schools that I applied to that it might affect if my application gets looked at or not and there was a variety of responses. For the most part the responses were ambiguous as to whether or not they'll truly consider me. One school said too bad (wow. That was awful), another went out of there way to let me know I'd still be considered because they were uninformed about the way CSDCAS calculates GPA. It's worth a shot at emailing the programs you're worried about.
  24. I applied to CSUF, and have never attended the school. You can message me with your questions. I don't know how helpful I will be, but I can try.
  25. @jmk nice! My husband is from Marin and all his family is in Napa (we lived over there for awhile, but it wasn't for us). Right now, we're in LA, but who knows where grad school may lead us?
