  1. Their website says their admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis...I guess I should have finished my application earlier...oops!
  2. Most schools want you to take the 4 ASHA required courses plus their prerequisite CD courses before starting grad school. Not doing so will limit the grad schools you can apply to. In addition, you will need some current academic letters of reference for your application. Since your degree was in another field you should really consider taking your prereqs or doing a 2nd bachelors in CD before applying to grad schools. Even if you have a 4.0 GPA and end up with really high GRE scores, you will be going up against other students with the same stats plus CD classes under their belt. If you found a program that took students without any CD courses completed you would still have to eventually take them anyways, but you will end up paying a lot more.
  3. A lot of my friends follow Dave Ramsey on FB. He supposedly has really good advice on how to budget yourself out of debt. I know I will be utilizing that resource after I graduate. 40k seems like the average...I know some people who have closer to 100k.
  4. Why can't they be as clear as you are in their response? LOL
  5. I think SDSU doesn't allow you to work over a certain amount of hours (10?) and you sign a contract. If you need to work then this should be one of the things you consider when choosing a grad school. The reasoning behind it makes sense. Some schools know the amount/quality of work it expects from their students and if this is impossible then there are other programs that might be a better fit. They don't want their students to pay tuition and then flunk out. I didn't apply to SDSU because I need to work. This was the most important factor for me while choosing a grad program. I stuck with programs that would allow me to continue working as a SLPA while attending grad school.
  6. Did you guys get an email after applying listing the requirements for a complete application? In this email it lists: "4. Have completed at least 8 CD prerequisites with a grade posted on your CSDCAS transcript. Be sure to work closely with CSDCAS staff to assure your Fall course credits and grades be posted by February 1st 2017. 5. Have a proof for the remaining 4 CD prerequisites to be completed no later than summer 2017. In other words, all 12 CD prerequisites or 36 units should be shown on your transcript." I emailed back explaining that I have a bachelors in CD and needed confirmation that those requirements did not apply to me because my bachelors program did not have some of these prerequisites. The response I got was: "Completion 12 CD prerequisites and 1 statistics by summer are the MUST requirement for all applicants. The application with less than 12 CD prerequisites will not be reviewed." Then I emailed again to stress the fact I am a student with a bachelors in CD and the requirement on their website states "12 prerequisites OR a bachelors in CD". The response I got was: "I cannot recall what issue do you have. Yet, your application is on my list to be reviewed." So basically, I'm not sure if I have a complete application because they couldn't give me a straight answer. What do you guys think? Did you have similar issues?
  7. I saw another post where someone had to handwrite their essay (I think it was over Skype). This makes me cringe because I would need extra time if I had to write it out by hand. Maybe it's their way of checking for spelling errors lol.
  8. Someone from last year (or the year before that) said they only accept those who they interviewed and it looks like they accept 1/4 - 1/3 of the people they interview. It's going to be a little different this year because they have a new low residency program, so I'm sure they're interviewing a lot more applicants because of the new program.
  9. Did you apply to their low residency program or on-campus program?
  10. You should check out CA's website (SLPAHADB) to see what the licensing requirements are for the state. If you decide on relocating to CA, make sure you research the area. SLPA jobs can be plentiful in some areas but difficult in others. Salary also varies by location. If you get into grad school you can also work as an SLP on waiver in certain parts of CA. Good luck!
  11. Do you have an interview with a school that requires a writing sample? I wonder if they will allow you to type up the writing sample on a computer. I can write a lot faster on a computer than by hand.
  12. What a relief!!! Now I only need to get an invitation to interview from them LOL
  13. I hate writing under pressure! Does anyone know if CSUF and Emerson require a writing sample? I have difficulties writing with a time limit. That's why my AW score is on the lower side...I just didn't have enough time to finish writing. I can write...I just need time to sort out my thoughts and brainstorm. It's annoying that they judge your writing skills with this type of format.
  14. If you are an out-of-state student, how do you make sure you are meeting licensing requirements for your state of residence? For example, what if my state requires a teaching certificate but the state where I attend school does not...what will happen? Or what if the state where I attend school requires a teaching certificate but the requirements for the teaching certificate are different from my state's requirements for a teaching certificate??? Does that make sense? This whole process is making me go a little cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs...and the waiting game doesn't help ?
  15. Do they have rolling admissions? If I'm accepted into their program but all the spaces are filled up for the cohort that I applied for (May 2017), will they have me start with the next cohort...or will my application be rejected?
  16. I took a chemistry class without a lab at my local community college. I think USU has a chem class online...no lab. It's Chem1010 with Professor Farrelly. I've heard other USU students say it's not too difficult.
  17. People forget that C means average. When you are working with kids whose academics are impacted by their disability, earning a C is great.
  18. I have a couple of questions for those who applied to CSU Fullerton...I'm having some issues with that school. I'm specifically looking for those who did not do their post-bacc or bachelors there. Please message me...thanks!
  19. I applied to NAU (summer's only). I check my email everyday...I'm going crazy waiting!!!
