  1. They seem to be pretty behind this year, wonder whats going on.
  2. Second Ryerson interview, POI skipped Skype and invited me for the formal interview. School: Ryerson University Type: MA/PhD Clinical Psychology Date of Invite: Jan 9th, 2018 Type of invite: Open house(?)/lab interview Interview date(s): Early Feb Don't PM about this POI, I'm still working out the deets of what the IRL interviews/open house are like so I don't want to give any incorrect info until I find out for sure, just wanted to give my fellow applicants a heads up.
  3. With the way clinical is going, taking a year off and doing a research/coordinator position is a much smarter idea than applying out of undergrad if you want to be as competitive as possible, especially if you don't have like 2+ years of research exp in undergrad.
  4. tbh I wanna bring my good ol' TRUSTY gym backpack bc comfort >>>> my chic(ish) black leather bag which hurts my shoulder lol. I will say my backpack is brand new and pretty slick, ngl, so its cute. As for stuff, I'm probably gonna bring a granola bar, H2O, my laptop, my notebook for (uhhh) notes, copies of my CV and trusty advil (maybe antiperspirant cuz i get SWEATY under stress yo)
  5. I wore a blazer, dress shirt, and sweatpants--life is good.
  6. I don't think I've seen one well dressed psychologist in my whole life LOL I think as long as you look presentable, the ideas and the words coming out of your mouth are more important than the type of blazer you're wearing
  7. It makes you look conscientious to prepare in advance and notify them of these accommodations. I don't think they would see you as a weak person, you might be overthinking it.
  8. Its likely a POI thing and not a "you" thing, but a favourable response is always nice :). On the other end, there were people I never contacted but got an invite from anyway, so it doesn't matter too much in the broader scheme of things.
  9. Speak of the devil (in a good way ofc). School: Ryerson University Type: MA/PhD Clinical Psychology Date of Invite: Jan 7th, 2018 Type of invite: Email from POI for Skype/phone interview Interview date(s): The week of 1/7/19 POI: PM me
  10. Also waiting on Ryerson. Western sends out interview invites late Jan (according to the site).
  11. this thread is more interesting than any movie tbh. Glad you're doing better now!
  12. Darn shoulda tried for UTSC but I was too lazy to take GRE subject lollll, such cool work done there.
  13. Yeah the program seems solid but I don't know how I feel about living in the shithole that is London for like 5 years lol. That and practicum choice seems kind of limited in a smaller city.
  14. Mitch Prinstein's guide is literally the bible, we need the PDF pinned on this forum. He literally has answers for 90% of the questions asked here all year round, what an angel. Trying to prepare for all possible curve balls and trying to narrow down my messy research interests in advance of interview season aaahhh good luck y'all
  15. Anyone applied for Western this year? Seems their program is pretty underrated
  16. Seems west coast is slow, I'm painfully waiting on UBC as well this week.
  17. Retake the GRE, publish some old work and try to get a paid coordinator position. Backups are good!
  18. I've always wondered what clinical psych is like in the UK, I hear its a lot less hassle than NA, seems y'all don't agree!
  19. Different threads make things cleaner, if you REALLY wanna hunt down a certain school's decisions thats what the search function is for. The only incentive for this thread is to clean up the forum. The psychology people have turned this forum into a zoo now that admissions seasons has come and mods here don't do much of anything so its best up to the users (cough us) to enforce good forum etiquette.
  20. Anyone had success applying to post-bacc work as an international? Were employers willing to work with you and help arrange visa stuff? I need to start reaching out to PIs for backup options, but I'm wondering if its generally 'too much work' for any lab to take a non-US citizen, regardless of how well qualified they were.
  21. +1! Y'all how about for formatting, when people post their interviews they can say either 1) dm for poi or 2) don't contact for POI, that would make things a lot smoother to read and less of a spamfest. Also that way we can respect people's preferences instead of hounding them for information they might not be comfortable sharing.
  22. First interview offer! School: Queen's University Type: MSc/PhD Clinical Psychology Date of Invite: Jan 3rd, 2018 Type of invite: Email from POI for Skype/phone interview Interview date(s): The week of 1/7/19 POI: pm me One odd thing that my POI mentioned is that Queen's does not do in person interviews. From what I understand, they do a brief Skype interview, make decisions, invite successful candidates to an open house and from there applicants can decide? I'm kind of unsure how their process goes, but if you got a Skype interview seems you made it into the deep shortlist.
  23. York's unique in that they automatically consider you for OGS if you submit CGS-M, so there isn't really a separate application for that. Im guessing Dal and UOttawa are the same? Ryerson wanted me to wait until shortlist to start the application, and other schools have much later deadlines so im like ??? lol wtf
  24. on the topic of applying for external funding, OGS is so complicated school-to-school, at this point I'm waiting to see if I get interviews before I apply. How are y'all going by this?
