  1. I was contacted for an interview in Feb, completed it early March and heard of my admission in mid March if that timeline helps you at all.
  2. I made a group for UT Dallas! https://www.facebook.com/groups/431051493996326/
  3. I made a Facebook group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/431051493996326/
  4. I was mostly talking about loans and grants that a school’s financial aid office gives, not any departmental scholarships or waivers because as it’s already been pointed out, UTD has very few of those and I’m not out of state anyway. I just wanted to see if anyone has heard about aid packages from the financial aid office because that’s all I’m waiting on.
  5. They’re both amazing schools and will serve you well in the medical area of the field. I’d honestly just go to whichever one ends up being cheaper for you, although I’d also include rent in this because Boston’s rent prices are through the roof.
  6. It's a brand new program so I don't believe you will find any current students in the SLP program. I would suggest emailing the program coordinator for program specific questions. However, if you have questions about the school or the area as a whole, you can message me! I know people who are familiar with the school in general and know a lot about the area.
  7. Has anyone heard about packages from the financial aid office yet? I've yet to hear anything and when I call they have no timeframe that they can give me.
  8. Just declined my offers at Rush and New York Medical College and my waitlist position at MGH. Hopefully this helps someone!
  9. I was an undergrad very involved with grad students and the clinical faculty. You could PM me questions and if I can’t answer, I can find someone who can!
  10. Thanks! It’s expensive, so I probably won’t be attending, unless there’s more funding than I’ve heard. I applied two weeks before the deadline and no interview. I don’t think they did interviews this year.
  11. I would just email the department and ask. I did, told them I was out of state and there was no way I could financially afford to visit for the interview, and they set up a Skype interview and said. Best way to get your answer is to email them directly.
  12. Just got my acceptance to New York Medical College! Is anyone aware if they offer funding other than loans?
  13. If you’re planning on pursuing a PhD in the future, or your interests are more medically oriented, that’s usually when you can consider some of the higher ranking schools with higher tuition costs. I applied to a program that will only end up being about 20,000 in tuition throughout the length of the program, so very cheap compared to my other options, but chances are I won’t accept it even if I am accepted because my interests are heavily medical and the program just wouldn’t give me what others could.
  14. I heard back sometime around the 20th of January I think. My application wasn't totally complete until the first week of January. Dr. Stillman will email you personally once they accept you.
  15. For those that have already finished their application to the University of Washington, how did you complete the area of knowledge section where they ask you to put the estimated number of completed lecture hours for each ASHA area of knowledge? Are we expected to seriously know an exact amount for this, or just an amount we think fits? Thank you!
  16. You could still use the same idea, but instead of mentioning the lab, mention what exciting clinical implications certain faculty or labs' research provides. Talk about a certain professor or lab's findings that really gets you excited, especially if it's in an area you mentioned you want to focus in.
  17. If you’re interested at all in research, search for research labs with faculty from your program. There should be a faculty page that might hint at it, some are more blatant if others. If not, a quick google search with your school’s name and research lab should suffice. Pick a lab you think you’d be interested in working in and just touch on that for two or three sentences.
  18. Thank you so much everyone! I decided to do it myself this morning and it really did only take about 30 minutes.
  19. Which programs are you applying to? University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at Dallas, University of Arizona, University of Washington (MedSLP preferred but applying to both), Portland State University, Rush University, Temple University, Case Western Reserve University, New York Medical College, MGH Where are you from? Texas! What are your biggest concerns about applications? Cumulative GPA! I switched majors 2 years into school and came from a science heavy background. My cumulative GPA is a mere 3.5. Everything else is good: Major GPA is a 3.9, last 60 credits GPA is a 3.85, GRE is 156 Q, 159 V and 5.5 AW. I have a lot of research and therapy experience thanks to a great undergrad education, and even experience working in schools and hospitals. It's just that stupid cumulative GPA.
  20. Forgive me if someone else has already recently asked this question, but has anyone used CSDCAS' professional transcript entry service that they offer after you submit the rest of your application? Would you say it's worth the money?
