My portal hasn't updated, but he let me know all PhD offers have gone out and that they are now considering applications for the MA. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if anyone was also still waiting. 3 rejections, still waiting on CU Boulder and NYU. Pretty sure NYU is a rejection, so hopefully Boulder will be an acceptance. historyofsloths and Dwar 2

Expand Often political (among faculty) or a limited number of slots going to students they suspect will accept. I was accepted to a program without funding in 2016. Talked to my PoI a year or two later and he said "you were a great candidate, but we didn't have the 'pull' necessary, plus nobody thought someone from the E. Coast would want to come to X location." This summarizes the point I was trying to make earlier: you may think digital presence does not affect your chances at anything, and that's fine. However, people are going to google you. You want to control as much as you can what they find (eg: your graduate student profile vs pictures of you on Spring Break 2016). Listen to the first ten minutes or so of Bonni Stachowiak talking with Kris Shaffer about online presence. She provides an example of what appeared on Google when she searched herself and how that changed as she became more active. Clearly, I'm arguing for people having online presence to better control what people find about themselves. It is perfectly fine to decide not to have online presence (like twitter or a personal website).
