One idea I have for you is pretty obvious but stuff like Planned Parenthood and reproductive rights and repro justice orgs and non profits. No More Deaths has volunteering and advocay based work to aid immigrants crossing the desert. Here in Chicago we have immigrant centered social services, housing and legal services.

Thank you for that! and your story is amazing and beautiful, you will do great things in your career! I just applied to both women's studies MA programs and MSW programs and now am facing the difficult decision of which path will be best for me... I am not sure if it is best to join a women's studies program and become active in community activism or to join a MSW program and focus on serving women and people who menstruate

Aw, shucks. Thanks. :) I have been an activist and organizer for quite some time over a decade. Getting into organizing is totally learnable and there are sometimes online trainings for new organizers from organizations such as Democratic Socialists of America and the Industrial Workers of the World. I have no personal relationship to these orgs outside of I go to a Saturday wing chun class led by the IWW boxers union. In Chicago and in other cities I'm sure, oftentimes, there are trainings targeted to more marginal folks targeting folks who are queer, trans and indigenous, black or other people of color. I am not an expert at all but should you want, I can write up a short list of organizations I know about. Cheers!

Just got an acceptance email from USC! My application was submitted 1/11, but the transcripts weren't fully processed until 2/1.

I hope I get my email from them soon. Fingers crossed!

It's 1:44 PM local time and UIC said they would probably make final decisions by the end of this week. :( The week is pretty much ended and next week is spring break and I haven't heard if I have been denied, waitlisted or accepted! I know refreshing the page won't work. :(

Just got into Columbia! I applied Dec 1st, no word on funding yet. I hope it comes soon in case I need to appeal. I have one decision due April 1st and 2 due the 15th.

Did anyone appeal UChicago for more funds? I appealed the 33k I got and asked for more and I got my financial aid letter yesterday and it still reflected the 33k. Does that mean my appeal was denied or maybe that they have not gotten to it yet? I did the appeal late February and they said they would start reviewing them this week (March 15). Anyone else do the same and have insight? Thanks!

Has anyone heard from portland state yet?

Yes I heard back that I was accepted Feb 23 for the advanced standing track CYFS. I just denied my offer last week as I got a better offer elsewhere!

Hey! I was referred to this link to submit a reconsideration request (need to send mine soon):

https://apply-ssa.uchicago.edu/register/scholarshiprequest

Did you submit yours through there? Not sure what the timeline is on them getting back to appealers, unfortunately.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone else is making a decision between Hunter and Fordham and might have wisdom to share. I'd be focusing on clinical in either program. Thanks :)

Hi everyone, i just received my acceptance for the OYR clinical track. I completed my application super early in December. I had a interview in mid February. Im going to accept this offer. Hope everyone hears something soon. Glad the waiting is over.

I'm still waiting to hear back regarding their 2 year program:( I applied on the deadline

Has anyone who applied heard back from UMD lately? I think the last time someone posted about an acceptance here was mid Feb.

Does anyone know of any additional sources of scholarship funding for MSW programs? I was admitted to Columbia, which was my #1 choice, and I received a little bit of scholarship money, but even with that money its still more than double the rate of other schools. I really want to go but don't think I can afford to pay that much for a 2-year program. Any help or guidance is appreciated!

Also, is anyone else considering University of Pittsburgh or Rutgers-New Brunswick campus?

I was accepted to the University of Pittsburgh and accepted their offer a few weeks back. I'll be doing the Advanced Standing track with the COSA concentration. I visited their campus last month and their Associate Dean gave my family and I a personalized tour. That was a major pull for me when making a decision, I definitely had the most personable experience with Pitt.

I've been waiting 3 months now (submitted right after the priority deadline) - I emailed for an update and haven't heard back. Definitely also frustrated as I have extended commitment deadlines approaching.

Anyone (who submitted past priority deadline) hear anything from Columbia?

Has anyone who applied to Columbia in February heard from them about when exactly we should expect to hear back? I got a deposit extension for other choices until 4/15 and am anxious/wondering if this is enough time.

I emailed them a few weeks ago and they said that those who applied before the priority deadline (12/1) will hear in February (it was strange because they said that in March), and the rest of the applicants will hear at the end of March to early April. This was a few weeks ago, so you can probably reach out to get a more updated timeline!
