crash1996 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 have my last two interviews today (BU - visual narrative and SAIC - comics), and then it'll be back to the full freakout waiting to hear back from all three of my schools 😓 happy that i've gotten interviews with all of them but we'll see how the financial aid turns out i guess 😭 good luck everyone!!! I was really not expecting this as UCI was more of a safe option wow I was so wrong! 😭 Anyways, I hope someone here got an interview and I'm still waiting to hear back on my last school UCLA.

In my interview with UO they said they will be reconvening the week after and that I would hear back end of February. It's been 2 weeks since I had the interview. jobahza 1

I'd still send the email, and mention both! I've done that before. For a recent one I noticed the third member's email wasn't in my original thread, so I googled his name and found his listed university email. Probably oldschool programming as a millenial from my boomer parents, but I do send thank you emails after each interview. sylvanian2000 1

Whatever feels right to you. It won't make or break your result, in the end, thank you emails are a curtesy. But I like to send them as a way to communicate my interest and appreciation. If I really liked the team I feel more inclined to do it, as a way to extend connection or something. sylvanian2000 1

Congrats on the interview invitation. I also received an unofficial offer from Goldsmiths for computational arts. If I end up going to UK instead I think that it would be my first choice. SocialKonstruct Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Just wanted to provide some support to y'all for applying for a visual arts MFA degree during one of the most difficult times possible :). As a person who just received a MFA last year, I can attest that the job market for visual art MFA's is pretty bad atm. To give you an example, I applied to nearly around a hundred visual arts jobs and got only one interview but didn't get that job at the non-profit gallery in East Hollywood ultimately. If you are keen on getting ready for what is one of the worst job markets (and definitely a MFA doesn't even help you land a desk job at an art gallery in the front), then check out https://www.jobs.art/. As I leave permanently the visual arts world to head into the literary world, I really do wish y'all the best. I admire those who can be persistent after the MFA years to maintain a studio practice. Sadly enough, keeping an art studio isn't free and getting gallery representation is definitely a long shot unless you have the connects... (which is why I decided to get back into writing which doesn't require any capital)... Right now I'm just waiting to hear back and hopefully I can get into my dream Ph.D. program. I applied Columbia printmaking, haven't heard back anything. I checked the applicant portal and there were no updates too. I think I should just give up—this isn't the only school that hasn't responded.

Their deadline (Jan 20) was much later than most schools, and I saw a 2024 post where someone got an interview invite around Feb 18. The one I’m really worried about is UCLA Sculpture tho.... Fingers crossed for all of us. Having read other forums, I feel like UCLA reaches out pretty late in February compared to the other UCs. Also it seems like their interviewing process is super different across their disciplines. I consistently find that new genres gives out the most interviews pretty early and for the other disciplines not really if any. I just expect to either hear from them later this month or just see the results mid March. I applied to photo, and there is also the chance that they have already reached out to applicants and I didn't make the cut given that they only accept 3 candidates each year.
