I agree that the in-person vibes will be essential, so you'll definitely see me in March. One thing to think about for UCSB is the lack of affordable housing in SB. In perusing the area on Zillow, the lack of housing ended up preventing me from applying there. Columbia for sure interviews all finalists (for visual and sound art) and wait list is pulled from those who intertviewed. I say that bc i held out hope waay too long thinking with no interview maybe i was waitlist. Hello&congrats, I also got an interview invite from Columbia (sculpture) on Feb 10, but they only offered online interviews and two dates to choose from (feb 14 and 15), hmmm I wonder why...wish I can have more prep time!

marxista Posted February 12 Posted February 12 any idea how competitive is UPenn? I was considering it a backup, but only bc I didn’t vibe with most of the work being done. I also know they give 50% off and thats it. So I assume not that competitive? Just asking bc I live in the EC and would be nice to stick around if I don’t get to my other options.

I applied to UCI but it was for creative writing... I did attend a fun party with UCI MFA studio artists and it was quite the contrast with ArtCenter folks.

I wanted to share where I'm at in the process in case that helps anyone else at with timelines! Most programs I applied for painting and a few were also for interdisciplinary focuses. UO: nothing (am expecting a rejection letter since it seems like they're done interviewing) UW-Seattle: nothing yet UCSD: nothing yet Syracuse: interviewed 2/5 UMich: interviewed 2/4 UIowa: interviewed 2/4 (verbal offer was given, but nothing set) UCI: interview next week, invited to visit in-person USC: interview today UMN: interviewed 1/26, waitlisted 2/10 UTK: interviewed 1/21, accepted 2/4 artworkaholic 1

The schools that I got waitlisted at still say "under review by department." Schools where it's only crickets so far, the portal says "Submitted."
