  1. Oh wow, I just saw your reply. I actually just made the impromptu decision to RSVP just now for the same reason lol Trying to figure out in my head what's the appropriate attire
  2. Did you feel like they remembered you? Were there moments to "shine" during the open house or not really?
  3. YEP. Saaaame here. Smh. That's why I'm wondering if going to the open house will up my chances of getting in if they meet me or something ??
  4. Anyone going? ? I haven't received a decision from them yet so I'm wondering if I should go...
  5. I actually ended up double checking the QC online application the day you told me they call for decisions and saw that I actually put down my cell! So I'm happy I won't have to worry about my parents not getting the message to me when they call. Thanks so much for all that great info about the interview process! Hopefully I'll get an acceptance or at least a chance to interview there. I love that school since I graduated from there. So I'm hoping they will give me the chance to stay. Good luck to you!! Hoping you get in!! Thanks! I'm trying not to. At the same time, I'm starting to prepare a backup plan just in case (praying I won't need to go through with it). I def hope we get an acceptance soon!
  6. Ugh. Got rejected from Lehman and Hunter. @slpgrad620 how was the interview at Queens?
  7. So far I got rejected to 2 out of 8 schools and had one interview (no decision made from that one yet). I'm getting that knotty feeling in my stomach after getting the second rejection today. This waiting game is awful, especially when all you're getting so far is rejection. Really praying to get some better news as time goes on. My backup plan is to apply to schools for the Advanced Certificate in ABA since I planned on getting that anyway. My stats are average but based on the relationship I had with my professors, I can only assume that I have strong LOR. And I think my personal statement really showed my passion for the field. So idk. I'm going through all kinds of emotions now smh ??
  8. Unbeknownst to me (until right AFTER I bought my laptop of course), there were laptops students were able to rent on my campus. I'm not exactly sure how it worked but it may be something worth looking into for some of you especially if you have to walk a lot. My back definitely deteriorated a bit from 3 yrs of carrying my books + my Toshiba Satellite laptop (which I obviously would NOT recommend).
  9. Ugh. Got my first official response from a school and it's a rejection (from Lehman College). I had a feeling it would be anyway though since I didn't get the chance to emphasize the importance one of the faculty had in my decision to become an SLP. I think if I had done that, I would've at least had a shot. Anyway, ah well. 7 more to go... praying for some acceptance(s) ??
  10. I meant to thank you both for answering! I did go ahead and email her and the funniest funniest thing ended up happening lol I still have no idea whether I'll get in or not but I'm definitely glad I contacted her!
  11. Yeap. I had an hour commute coming home from Queens College most of the time, although going there was usually less than half of that. But the hour drive was usually fine for me; irritating at times, but bearable since I blasted my music and had snacks handy. I applied to schools in Brooklyn which would be 2 hrs away in traffic (and I live on Long Island) so as much as I would HATE that commute, I may be in the position where I have to consider it.
  12. The video makers of Magoosh have a FREE WEBSITE with ALL THE SAME VIDEOS that for Magoosh are only available if you pay for it!! The site is GreenLightTestPrep.com. They also have the same videos on YouTube but I find that the website organizes them nicely and keeps track of which videos you've already watched, plus has added content/supplemental materials worth checking out.
  13. CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP! i JUST realized awhile ago that I forgot to send my interviewer a thank you email following my interview from almost two weeks ago! Smh! I actually need to ask her a question that is not pertaining to the interview or graduate admissions at all though, so would it be appropriate to still contact her with a thank you as a preface to my question, even though there's a good chance she probably has forgotten my face/background info? What I am emailing her about may jog her memory, but is it too late to mention any thanks for the interview at this point??
  14. I honestly have no clue! Some people have already been notified about decisions from Adelphi but I haven't yet. The open house is in May so it's possible that my decision will be out by then..
  15. @Maridele Nope. I had one at LIU Post that wasn't a group interview. I was just chatting with the other prospective grad students who were in the waiting room
  16. Hm. What about in the case that you haven't heard back yet from the schools who have invited you to go to the open house? Is it advisable to go or not?
  17. That's really funny that you guys ended up in the same interview! ? I was wondering if that would happen with me during my interview but the people I spoke to didn't even hear of this site lol
  18. Oh wow. With all these schools possibly giving it funding now, I guess that means I should hurry up and finish this FAFSA ?
  19. Woah. That sounds like great experience though! What state are you in?
  20. What is the difference between being a language therapist and an SLP? I've never heard of a language therapist before
  21. Wow. These NY schools are taking foreverrrr. Maybe I should stop checking my email everyday and check it once a week ?
  22. Interview took about 15 min. Dr. Rubinstein was great and actually told us who were waiting exactly what to expect for the interview, which I assume she may do for you or anyone else if there's a bunch of people waiting to be interviewed. So I'll tell you the same thing she said to us. You'll basically give her a brief overview of your educational experience since she knows absolutely nothing about anyone she interviews. Then you'll have to talk a bit in depth about ONE clinical observation. After, you can ask her whatever questions you may have. And then if your writing score is below a 4.0, you have to write a one page essay about a pretty easy topic related to your personal experience. They just want to make sure you can write well. But Dr. Rubinstein was an absolute joy to speak to. She makes you feel really comfortable ?
  23. Waiting to hear from all of my schools smh. Hopefully I'll hear from Post this week or by next week the latest since I interviewed with them already Queens College, Hunter, Brooklyn College, Lehman, LIU Post, Adelphi, Hofstra, & Touro
  24. Nice! Yeah, it did have to do with your AW score. I hear that those who score 4.0 and up don't have to write anything. So it's good you never had to do that! Good luck!
