sarah189 got a reaction from MC15 in Anyone Heard about funding from Northeastern yet?
What kind of funding did you get, if you dont mind me asking? Also, do you know if anyone else has received anything yet?

sarah189 got a reaction from smarieSLP2b in Unprofessional to call schools about decisions?
I have emailed schools about when I would hear back from them, and I have been accepted to those schools. So, I don't think it really affects it.

You can but if there is a non-refundable seat deposit you would lose that money! I had a friend who did this last year!

I called them last week, they said we should hear about funding by the end of this week!

sarah189 reacted to babysanta in Is anyone else worried about this?
If anyone is interested in loan forgiveness options after graduation, do plenty of research and make sure youVOTE. The current administration is looking to gut some of these programs to get more money for a racist wall.

sarah189 reacted to Southwestspeechie in “Top-Rated” schools are drastically overrated, IMO.
I am so happy that you have had a great experience in your program OP! I am not sure if these programs are actually overrated though. I go to a top 10 program and can say that it is absolutely amazing. We have top researches as our professors, but they don't only focus on incorporating research. They really emphasize client and parent expectations when crafting our treatment plans. I also don't find my program harsh; all of the faculty are incredibly supportive, as are my fellow classmates. While I do agree that actual practice facilitates learning, tests are necessary, especially since we all have to take COMPS to become SLPs.
I think a lot of the information you are providing about these programs is based more on assumptions and doesn't match the actual experience of students who attend those programs.
Each program is too unique to really make these broad generalizations anyway I hope this didn't come off as rude, I mean to only share my experience.

sarah189 reacted to Dinamyte in MGH vs. Vanderbilt for Medical SLP
You received a full scholarship to MGH - roughly $115, 000 - and you're questioning whether you should go? Really? Personally, I would be immensely grateful to have received any scholarship money at all.

Revisiting this because I have an unhealthy obsession with checking to see if anyone has posted about it yet. I should never have been so dead-set on the Feb 28 date, omg! Crossing my fingers that we'll know sometime this week.

I wouldn't give up hope yet! They won't send out official letters till later this week, so they're probably calling well into next week too.
They told me on the call right after mentioning my acceptance.

sarah189 got a reaction from slp2bclassof2021 in Penn State Admissions
I was looking at the results page and it seemed like last year they sent it March 1st and 2nd. But, that could be cause not everyone posted their results. I'm still holding out hope. Good luck!

Just chiming in to say I got accepted last year to NYU Steinhardt for SLP and found out on 3/1 at 7am pacific time via email! Good luck!! I ended up turning it down b/c I couldn't afford it and am reapplying to local schools. The program seems amazing though

sarah189 reacted to 14SLP14 in Congrats to everyone accepted!!
This may be cheesy but I don't think people who aren't in the field know what an accomplishment it really is to get in to a program!! For years I've been scared of not getting in anywhere because of everyone in my classes always talking about how competitive it is. And waiting for so long after submitting apps was awful!! It's a huge relief to have acceptances and I'm really happy!! I feel like people don't hear it enough but getting accepted is a big deal and I'm proud of all my fellow speeches!! I'm proud of myself and proud of everyone that has had acceptances and will in the near future!! We did it!! And good luck to everyone as more schools send out their decisions!! ❤️

sarah189 reacted to waffles19 in Northeastern Interview
They were so nice! Nothing about it was awkward or stressful. It went much smoother than the other interview I did. They didn't ask any difficult questions, just the expected why do you want to come here/tell us about yourself type of questions. I wouldn't be nervous at all!
