  1. Online at the website should tell you
  2. Arch is probably your best option with job prospects after your masters
  3. It's means currently they can't. However you could always get an assistantship outside the department or even a semester later through the department
  4. What area are you focusing in? Schools generally vary greatly on which subfield you are focusing on
  5. It will be between 9k-24k from what I've seen.
  6. My current school has an unofficial wait list however they keep all the apps for rejection until things are official then they send out all rejections at once in April
  7. Did you check the results board? I'm assumming everyone that post year also post the results on the results board
  8. Bay- couldn't agree more. What I meant was In certain fields it depends on your advisor and not the university. But I will say in some fields it does matter
  9. It depends on your field. My field you go with the best prof in the field but I know other fields that rank is the only thing that matters
  10. Do you have any access to any collections? If not just do library research projects. Find something that interest you and write something up.
  11. Duckie- the year I was applying, masters and phd, they both came out the same time.
  12. Duckie- what field of anthropology are you?
  13. I would reapply for next year. Some schools won't accept you on the first try just to see how much you want it. It's like they are playing hard to get. And plus it's just one less year you can apply. Maybe visit before the deadlines, present at conferences and get publish would help your chances.
  14. Most likely the asu result is true. It's about the same time frame I got both acceptances from asu, one was masters one was phd but oddly I never went there. Came close but a visit turned me off for my phd and masters, I don't remember why I decided against it. So make sure to visit and make your own mind up. And the time of day of the email doesn't matter unless you know the sleeping and working hours of all the profs. I know of profs who ome into work at 4 am and leave around 3 in the afternoon.
  15. So from my experience you shouldn't give up hope ever but you still should have high hopes till the end of march. Some schools are just slow, some are just fast.
  16. That's why the wait is so long. People take their time so they have an unofficial waitlist and just want to send all rejections at the same time.
  17. Jerzy- in my experience fit is most important but everything else does matter too and each school weigh everything differently.
  18. Jerzy- I Got my masters paid for and some offer funding for masters and some don't. Some schools want you to have a masters some don't. I know my school wants you to have a masters coming into a phd and won't accept phd students without it even though online they say they will.
  19. Anthroman- You are missing a very important variable, fit. You may assume your fit with poi is perfect but they may not think so. Or something I have discovered a couple years ago, one of your recommenders may have made an enemy with an admission committee member. Or someone is just better than you. It happens to everyone. Or you may need a master degree. Who knows. You try your best and that's all you can do.
  20. Most schools wont say anything until you email and ask about it. They have their money they could care less if they have one less app to look at.
  21. In anthropology 3-5 years is standard for your phd and 10-26k is standard. But remember where you live can make 26k in new York be less than 10k in say new iowa.
  22. If you google it you should know.
  23. It was a combination. Some before the deadline some after but I got acceptances and rejections from both sides of the equation.
  24. Well, most of time when they don't come with is because they notify you within two weeks of the deadline and in the letter says that ga/ta will come later and gives a date long before April.
  25. It can mean anything. I filled out fellowship apps like those for schools that both accepted and rejected me.
