PoliSciGuy00 Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Hi all, Not really sure where else to post this, but curious if anyone is claiming the HKS admit that just went up. I'd love to attend HKS, but I think it's really a long shot.
starbucksqueen Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Curious what everyone’s quant background is...I can’t tell if I have too little experience relative to competitive candidates
allben Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Are there any other Columbia applicants who haven’t heard back yet? I checked my portal and it looks like there’s a new application for the MA program along with my original PhD application which is still in submitted status. Assuming this means I’ve been deferred to the MA pool, but wondering if anyone else is in the same boat!
Romcomulus Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Anyone claim that UCLA rejection? I checked the portal, no change.

I was still accepted to a top 5 program. I'd definitely get some quant in if you can, but otherwise you can still be competitive.

As an MA student, I took a course on inferential and descriptive network analysis. I think these courses may have compensated for my less-than-ideal quantitative GRE score. I've heard that it's more of a concern if you score below the 80th percentile, but if you score 80th percentile or above, then they are less concerned about the lack of quant courses. The exception for this is if you plan to do formal modeling work/game theory -- then they'll want to see a more robust quant transcript. Clintarius 1
pablitothepinguim Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 For those still waiting for a response from UNC: I emailed them and they replied that "decisions have been submitted to the Graduate School and will be released shortly".

billk Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Claiming LSE waitlist. Kind of shocked (was top of class in CP Master's and published during it), but it just underscores the importance of fit I guess.
allben Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Officially struck out this year so I'm done here for now, but congrats to everyone who got in this cycle! For those who did not, solidarity :). ishi, Marika8, Gik and 11 others 14
ps114 Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 So have any IR applicants to Harvard heard back from them yet? All the posted acceptances have been AP, CP and theory so far. Not sure if that means IR isn't out or if IR admits haven't posted??
starbucksqueen Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) Does anyone know if the AP Harvard emails were generic or personalized? Trying to figure out if there are more seats available... Edited February 27, 2020 by starbucksqueen

RebPB Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Are all acceptances from Harvard sent out then? Congrats to everyone who got in!!

uncle_socks Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 If the generic email went out already, it's likely that that's all they're admitting. Not everyone is on gradcafe. I'd be happy to be proved wrong but 9/10 times this is the right opinion on it. Pol22222 and Floof 2
uchenyy Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 I officially declined my offer at Indiana University a couple of minutes ago. I hope this helps someone on the waitlist! Dwar and IRTphd915 2
