Just curious... Anyone else applying to CUNY, Rutgers, JHU, Brandeis, or Brown? I've yet to hear from any of them. All theory subfield.

JHU for me, also theory. Out of all the schools I applied to, that may be the best fit. I hope to hear back soon, although I don’t think they release decisions until the end of February.

I applied to CUNY, Rutgers and Brown... I expect Brown any day and Rutgers mid Feb and CUNY in March.  LONG wait left. Also still waiting on Cornell, Columbia, Yale and The New School.

What'd it say?

"While we cannot extend to you a firm offer of admission at this time, over the next few
weeks, we will develop a clearer picture of the size of our entering class, as well as the
parameters of funding opportunities. If we are able to offer you admission, I will
contact you."

Among some other things that are less important. This sounds like I'm on the wait list because of lack of clarity on how many they can bring in this year.

I visited there this summer before applying. It’s an absolutely gorgeous campus and the department is run very well. I’ve heard they only accept 3-4 PhD students a year though.

Yep! I've heard that as well. They said they generally see around 100 applications and they take 4 of those 100.

Hi there everyone, I was just popping in and wondering if anyone has heard anything back from Korbel yet? I applied for a dual MSW/MA program and trying to chalk up my debt for both programs, but don't want to get ahead of myself :)

good luck to all

I applied to the PhD program and have heard nothing yet. They normally send out decisions closer to the end of February. Good luck!

For their professional MA programs i suggest you head on over to the "Government Affairs" forum which is under the "Professional" tab. This forum mainly deals with PhD applicants applying for academic oriented programs.

Has anyone reached out to any professors at Brandeis? They specifically mention on their FAQ page that they DO NOT encourage candidates to contact professors before getting admitted to the program. That sounds very weird to me.

I just had a missed call from a NYC number. Looked it up and it was from CUNY. I called them back and they said they have no idea why I have a missed call and they don't call pending applicants. Disappointing... yet, mysterious.

Seconded! I applied to the PhD program and also heard nothing back yet. The portal says late February/early March so still a ways off

Is it true that acceptances come out in batches or do they usually come out on one day?

It can really depend on the school. What I see most often is that it'll come out in a batch by subfield because those decisions are often made independently of each other. Some schools are known for dragging it out, where others are known for pretty consistently sending everything out at once.
