Last name O. Also received my decision letter from U of T around 12:30 am and I am also on the waitlist (again). Why so many of us are on the waitlist is beyond me lol. Doesn't look promising sadly.

Waitlisted at 12:30am for the third year in a row. Pretty disappointed, but still waiting on Laurier and I have an acceptance from Windsor.

Is there anyone else who’s planning on going to Windsor and knows if there’s been any groups created (here or on Facebook) for those starting this fall?

Does anyone know the chance of getting off the 2 year UofT waitlist? It seems there's a lot of us. It doesn't seem very probable.

I haven't counted but I'd say there are 30 to 40 of us here on the waitlist. I personally know someone who got off the waitlist one year but to be honest I don't often hear of much movement from U of T. So many of us have been on it for multiple years in a row ?

I was waitlisted the last 2 years and never got off it. I also had a few friends who never got off it either, I only know 1 person who did. It’s frustrating that they don’t tell us the ranking so that we can at least have an idea.

I am so sorry. Why don't they just accept more people lol There are so many amazingly qualified people. Have you applied anywhere else? I am waiting out on Dalhousie's post degree Bsw

I am sorry to hear. It seems like a small chance to get off. Have you looked into other options?

I applied to York as well but unfortunately because I have two children (one who is going into grade 8 and definitely doesn't want to move!) I'm limited to anything within driving distance. I could consider doing a post BSW at York but I honestly don't feel as if the 1 year MSWs are that much less competitive.

I can't improve my grades (I graduated u of t with a 4.0) and I work and volunteer in the field. I think my hours are competitive compared to others but there are most definitely people who have more. I know I have done everything possible on my end so I am definitely feeling like I should explore other paths going forward. Maybe the universe is pointing me in a slightly different direction lol sorry that was a long response. Thank you for your message ?

Sigh....It seems like the waitlist is most definitely ranked with the people that heard back late afternoon yesterday on the top (since it wasn’t in alphabetical order) and the people that heard late at night on the bottom

This is a little discouraging but trying to remain positive that I might be wrong

I have. I've had a professor from a different faculty look it over. He teaches at UofT himself, he said himself I have a solid application so I'm not sure what I'm missing at this point. I know my GPA isn't the greatest being at 3.7 but I've seen others get in with lower. I'm really at a loss

Have you applied to any other MSW program?

It seems to alphabetical because someone with the last name C as well as myself heard back at around the same time in the afternoon I think? I don't think anyone with last names from A-K heard back late last night, or did they?

I hope so ....someone with the last name Z heard back at the same time as the A’s and C’s but I’m potentially over analyzing this ! ?

Has anyone here accepted their offer to Western? Just wondering if they've sent you any more information as my acceptance letter said they would send out more info in a couple weeks but that was like a month ago lol

Hiii, I accepted my offer from Western and also haven’t received anymore information lol

I've been waitlisted at UofT, got the email last night around midnight. I'm not very optimistic about moving off the waitlist so it looks like it'll be either Western or Laurier if I get accepted there! ?

Are there any major differences between Western and Laurier?

Last name S, no response! I’ve already accepted an offer to King’s 2-year MSW, but I just wanted to let you all know when I hear back from Toronto!

Waitlisted at Toronto, 1:18AM EST. I’ll be withdrawing my application.

Hi Everyone! Is anyone who is going to York for the Advanced Stream interested in having some sort of group either like Facebook, Insta or WhatsApp?!

Did you decide to go to York? Congrats...

curious because I think I saw you post about getting into a few different schools!

Hey guys, I was wondering if there are people who got accepted or waitlisted to UofT, and UofT isn't their first choice? Or if there's anyone who's first choice is Western rather than UofT?

Also is there anyone who got accepted to UofT who wants to defer their acceptance...I am curious if UofT will even allow for many people to do that and if that would make any different difference for us waitlisted folks!

Hi everyone, I see there are many of you that are feeling discouraged, which I can totally empathize with. I applied to grad school this year for the third time hoping to get into clinical psychology programs. It is SO competitive (I'm talking 2% acceptance rate and they accept a total of 5-7 people per year ?). I didn't get into clinical again this year but got accepted to MSW at UofT. I was waitlisted at UofT 2 years ago and this year I made it. A little bit about my experience... I graduated with an HBSc. in the Psychology Specialist program from UofT in 2019. I have a very high GPA with A LOT of research experience in different labs. I worked at Sunnybrook and SickKids. I did an Honours Thesis and have a publication. Very strong LOCs. It was so frustrating and confusing to me how I never got into clinical, no feedback, nothing. IMPROVE YOUR CVs... get out there and look for opportunity where and if possible. It's not uncommon these days to apply again and again, especially with competitive programs like these. TBH, it will only get more competitive as there are a backlog of qualified applicants that apply each and every year. This year psych and MSW programs experienced a significant increase in applications because we are in a time of economic downturn (this happened in 2008 too), so all in all it was a tough year. Don't give up! Another suggestion I have is to be open-minded and think about alternative career paths. I told myself I would only apply to clinical psych for a max. of 3 times and then I would explore other grad programs. There is a reason that a door is not opening if you truly have tried everything you can to be successful. Anyway, feel free to ask me any questions if you have :)

I have a couple of friends in the BSW program at Waterloo and have heard great things! I currently am finishing up my social development studies degree at waterloo & got accepted to BSW (accepted my offer last night) + I got waitlisted for Uoft's 2 yr msw. It's a great option because it makes you eligible for the 1 yr advanced standing program which is really nice. You also get to do a practicum for all 10 months which is really nice because you get your hours to become registered with the CSWSSW. I'd take a close look at their prerequisite courses because you either need a Social Service Worker Diploma or you have to take 10 of their prerequisite courses - I've taken them throughout my undergrad at Waterloo which is what allowed me to become eligible to apply. I've heard great things about it, and it's definitely worth checking out!! Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help out in any way! ?

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely keep your offer in mind if I choose to go that route! I know my program had a lot of the courses but I know I'll have to double check as it was a bachelor of applied science degree that I got. I also got my SSW at the same time through my undergrad at Guelph-Humber so I'm hoping i've met the requirements already! The biggest incentive for me is that I can then apply for the 1 year msw. It's just hard because I live about an hour away from waterloo (without traffic) and I can't afford moving away. I know the website says it's in person but I'm wondering if they have an online or hybrid option that would allow me to stay at home.
