Congrats on the Georgetown admit! Regarding the GWU event, I'd probably put it closer to 25 or so. All 3 tables were filled up and had what, 8-9 seats each?

I agree. I thought it was at least 25, maybe 30.

So, apparently, we will not hear anything from Northeastern in this week.

Well that is just makes me sad. I have to wait another week for closure.

I almost said 30 but then I wondered if it was too high. I think you're right.

Other than interviews, I have not started yet, meaning that I may wait for a month maybe? Waiting has been really painful, I did not expect it to be so difficult.

Yep same boat. Seems like people in the American subfield have that problem, if that's the subfield you applied to.

Same here. Someone a page back was accepted to Columbia in the American subfield. So the deck is not stacked favorably. But with several rejections posted as well, hope springs eternal.

It has been painful. I got four letters out the gate, first week of February. That was followed by nothing for weeks. i just want some closure so I can get to work on planning the move and what not... and yeah one or two more acceptances would be amazing!

Could it be an as-yet-unannounced wait list, or d'ya think they haven't sent out American rejections? (Anyone claiming an American rejection?)

I'm pretty sure I checked the box that said: "Nice Try, But Under No Circumstances Am I Going To Pay For Another Master's Degree."

I'd be surprised if Harvard did at this point as well

What about the guy earlier in the thread who said he got a phone call? Maybe they've already sent out all the acceptances.

They said it was an email, and didn't specify which program (Harvard or Harvard PEG). Taking history into account, it seems very unlikely that so few acceptances would be posted, and even unlikelier still that no one on here would claim at least one. But I could be wrong!

Oh, I think there was someone else for PEG too. But the second guy said it was from the Chair of the department-- does PEG have a Chair?

So historically, most acceptances for Harvard and Yale come out when? Is it late Feb or early March?

So, finally decided to register.  Thus far, it has been a pretty brutal season, with 9 rejections and 5 pending applications (mostly Phd programs, but also two terminal masters).

Today I got this email that (maybe) indicates that I got in to UCSD's GPS MPP program:

"Thank you for your application to the School of Global Policy and Strategy at UC San Diego. I'm pleased to inform you the admissions committee has reviewed your file and feels you will be an excellent fit for GPS. At this time your application has been nominated for admission, and in the coming days our committee nomination will be reviewed by the UC San Diego's Graduate Division. You will receive official communication from that office, via email, regarding your file. Congratulations on your nomination!"

Perhaps that means that I am accepted but it is a matter of funding from the Grad Division?  One of the reasons that GPS was on my MA list was because their deputy director of admissions told me that they do offer full rides, and even sometimes a stipend.  This is also the school that massively (hopefully accidentally) trolled me: I come home to a thick envelope from them, open it excitedly, and find that it contains a wall calendar with nothing else, not even a "good luck on your still pending application!".

It means the program accepted you. But, usually, all acceptances for grad programs need to be finalized by the graduate school administration. This is usually just a formality - very very rarely do you not get accepted by the grad school after being accepted by a program.

You can consider it an acceptance at this point.

It's not necessarily a matter of funding.

That is good to know!  I should have clarified RE: funding.  It seemed like the GPS program offered more substantial funding packages compared to the east coast schools (I'm looking at you Elliott School at $65k/year tuition and $8k/year max scholarship) so I was wondering if perhaps it is a higher level decision to craft an offer package beyond "give us all your money, cool?".

Should we expect to hear back from JHU & IU early next week?

Also, those who know anything about Maryland, if one hasn't heard a thing from them, is it safe to assume a rejection at this point?

Wish they would hurry up so that some waitlist positions might open up :P

Maryland's acceptances went out a week or so ago. Not sure how they handle their waitlist
