Congrats on your acceptance! I'm a current grad student at Princeton. Princeton only guarantees five years of funding, but there are many funding opportunities for year 6 and beyond. Info on the Centennial Fellowship can be found here https://gradschool.princeton.edu/costs-funding/definitions Fellowships given outside of the English Dept. typically mean more money added to your base stipend.

Hello, everyone! I'm writing to wish you all the best of luck this application cycle! I'm happy to answer any questions via the forum or pm about my current program and the application process in general.

@Englishtea1 That’s great news. Congratulations! What was the event like?
I’m still waiting to hear from them, but I don’t have too much hope because I wasn’t invited to the pre-admission event or contacted for an interview.
I heard that they’ll be updating the portals very soon. My acceptance came via the portal and then I received an email from a faculty member. Also, the event was awesome. Had one-on-ones with faculty and met many grad students. My experience def. didn't come across as an interview. With the faculty I met, it was more of an opportunity for me to ask them questions about the program.

In at Northeastern! I was one of the people who attended the pre-admission welcome event.

Has anyone received any more details about their CUNY offers by any chance?
I haven't yet...My guess is that they're still figuring out funding.
-
@dangermouse LOL yea I did! I guess all bets are off as far as work hours are concerned.
-
-
Question! Have any of you been able to negotiate your funding offers? If so, how did you go about doing this?

@trytostay Thanks! It still feels surreal. And congrats on your acceptances as well. Like everyone on this forum, we do everything we can to prepare for these app cycles, and there's never any knowing how it they will turn out.

Congratulations to those who got acceptances today ??
Can Rutgers, UPenn, and Brown make up their minds now already? ??
They're joking and gaming with these imaginary deadlines we've given them.

Apparently CUNY Grad Center is still sending acceptances! I received mine today. There's still hope, people.

The people who have heard back from Wisconsin, did you get an email from the department or the grad school? Check portal or self-contained? I’m trying to figure out why I haven’t received anything since all three types of notices have gone out.
I received an email from the POIs and the grad school. The portal has also updated on my end. It might be helpful to know that the department just received a grant for an initiative focused on transatlantic/Caribbean literature, which may account for why they’re taking in so many applicants whose specialty is in that field.

Rejected by UCLA Not too surprised though, fit was a big stretch in hindsight and my very, very bad subject GRE probably meant that if they had an initial cut on numbers, I was likely out right from the start. I'm ngl glad they were able to send out decisions quickly but a rejection at 3AM PST? Could barely sleep after seeing that letter lol. Still, many congrats to all who got in. You've all been accepted into a very fabulous program.
Crossing fingers for good news for all of us as February rolls on.
The thing with these schools is it really is a toss-up and there are so many factors that come into play when accepting applicants. However, I think dept. fit plays more of a role than I initially thought. I’ve been rejected from smaller programs but accepted to UCLA (and my GRE subject score is trash) and when I look back at the programs I was rejected from it seems that they were really a stretch regarding fit. Here’s to hoping that we all get into programs that are best suited for the growth of our projects!
