Specifically Rutgers (someone already answered this so ignore), Pace, Yeshiva and Fordham (Counseling PhD for Fordham as I think clinical has gone out I think?). Losing my sanity one day at a time ? I’m with you! Waiting on those plus tc, St. John’s, FDU! All clinical programs Other information from NY programs also all clinical: You didn’t mention LIU Brooklyn, but since it’s NYC, I figured I’d mention that I emailed the department admin and she said files are still being reviewed and hopefully you will hear from someone by next week. Hofstra’s DCT emailed at the beginning of January that core faculty were reviewing applications and would be contacting applicants about interviews by Feb 1. Also, I emailed the HPCS Program at CUNY on Wednesday to see if all invitations for interviews were sent out and was told by the admissions chairs that applications are still being reviewed and to wait for an email from the admissions committee. And that I haven’t heard anything yet doesn’t mean that I won’t be offered an interview. Lastly, TC admissions coordinator said via email invitations for interviews are sent out in feb/March. (Trolls on results page SUCK!- that’s why I am writing this information here!!) Hope this helps everyone else being tortured by this process during such a hard year!!! I didn’t mention LIU Brooklyn bc I actually got an invite from them this week (my first and only one!) but I know it’s rolling and that they are still sending out invites. I don’t think the TC person was a troll, since I know from other people that the TC counseling PhD program has extended invitations (I believe clinical hasn’t yet) and someone earlier here in this forum said that they know someone at TC who has said all invites have been extended. I think there’s def trolls on the results page but not so much on this forum specifically?

psychrenaissance
Fordham just sent out an email with the following: "We write to inform you that the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program (CPDP) has extended all admission interview invitations, and all available interview slots are now filled. The CPDP will not be extending any additional interview invitations. As noted in our previous communication regarding the program admission process, only candidates selected for an interview are considered for admission. We realize that this news is disappointing. The admissions committee faces the daunting task of selecting a limited number of candidates for interviews from a large pool of strong applicants. This year is especially challenging, with a record number of applications for only a very small number of admission slots." Well, that's finalized. kch16
Just now, JoePianist said: Fordham certainly doesn’t mince words... Right? I thought I was the only one who thought that (I received this email as well). This is my first time going through the process and as I see people on their second, third, and fourth tries become more discouraged I can't help but feel saddened and slightly angry. This entire process needs to be completely scrapped and reevaluated. People with years and years of experience are rejected because there are only 3-10 spots per school? We can either be in $200k+ debt for the rest of our lives or apply once every year until hopefully we get a shot? The world needs more psychologists, and everyone here has the knowledge, passion, and drive to be one. This process effectively discourages applicants from diverse backgrounds, promotes hyper-competitiveness, and drives away perfectly qualified (and over-qualified) candidates. I hope someone who has any influence has been watching these forums this cycle. I'm out of things to say, and these programs are out of excuses. Although this was my first time applying, I don't know if I can financially and emotionally handle going through this process multiple times. Plus I'm an older applicant compared to most, which is also a barrier I feel. It's a shame it is so incredibly competitive and that there just isn't enough programs considering how high the need is for psychologists. I come from an educationally and economically disadvantaged background. My father basically has an 8th grade education, and I have more extended family who have been incarcerated than have graduated from college. Just getting my Bachelor's felt like an insurmountable goal. Also, having transferred to my university from community college severely limited research opportunities because I only had two years to finish my degree. Not saying that people who have taken out loans for education do so on a whim, but I have it drilled in my head that "people like me" can't afford entry into academia. shutupsigmundfreud, heregoesnothing, aspiringgradstudent and 11 others

I shouldn't have to spend every year feeling like I'm just gambling that my hopes and efforts will come to fruition. Nevertheless, the reality is that in order to see the difference that we want, there need to be more programs for us to go to. Supply to meet demand. Unfortunately, money doesn't actually grow on trees, which is what a bunch of the root issue boils down to. You need funding to start and sufficiently run a good program, not just more degree mills. I would be very interested to see any preliminary calculations on what what funds would be necessary to normalize everyone (decently qualified) getting in at one, absolutely two cycles max. I don’t need to bore you all with my cv but I can tell you that my mentor from my masters program is beyond shocked that I didn’t even get an interview from Fordham with my qualifications. Unfortunately, there is one reason that she has told me which is probably why given the climate of events this year. Anyway, it’s helpful to at least have an answer from Fordham. I totally agree with you that this process needs to be fixed. Also, my mentor agrees and has said “There is no rhyme or reason that people get in anymore. Unfortunately, especially this year it seems like it’s purely luck. Oh and a lot of programs have cut down on the number of spots this year. And that with the amount of people struggling with mental illnesses and the need for better evidence based treatments -it shouldn’t be like this.” Anyway, I’m totally with you all and we need to remember this is not a reflection on us as people or applicants. I really hope someone sees this that has any power in fixing the application process in the future! Remember you all deserve to enjoy the weekend!!
