I just searched my name in Google Scholar and I found out that I was listed in the acknowledgements of a dissertation! I left the lab to pursue my Masters degree in 2019 and the doc student I worked with graduated last year ?? I had no idea he did that! Is there any way I can add that to my CV? I know it won't matter for this application cycle but it's still super cool!

Hmm I'm not sure if you can list acknowledgements on CVs? I've never seen that done before but interested to her what others think. Also, that is super cool!

I know this doesn’t mean a whole lot for this cycle, but I just found out that the University of Texas at Tyler has a brand new, fully funded Clinical Ph.D. program! A professor has stated on Twitter that they will be taking applications until January 15th.

@justacigar First this is very cool, happy for you! Second, from what I've been told it's not something you really put on a CV, but it can be something you mention in statement of purpose or cover letter to really show how invested you were in a project. This is only one of my PIs opinions so I'm also open to any additional thoughts!

Thirding this, acknowledgments are nice but don't belong on a CV. If anything, in interviews you can mention I did x and was acknowledged in y.

Hey everyone! Not to add on ANOTHER platform for connection, but a few applicants from Twitter recently started a Slack channel to more easily keep in touch. DM me if you want the link!

Yay! Also feel free to share our discord if they're interested in combining lol

Hi everyone! New to the platform and first year applying! I was just wondering if anyone else here is applied specifically to programs that have Neuropsychology concentrations and who you applied to? Also, does anyone know if having this kind of specific interest helps or hurts your chances of being admitted based on past experience? Good luck to everyone applying!

Hey, welcome! I’m in the same situation in my first year applying. I also only applied to programs with neuropsychology concentrations but even more specifically to those with a child/developmental track. I chose places that were good fits overall and had professors that I felt were great matches. The programs are University of Kansas, Kentucky, Denver, Memphis, North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and Florida International University.

Everyone that I got advice from (former professors, clinical psychologist friends, and current students) said being specific helps a ton, especially if you have experience. It is hard thinking that you’re limiting your options though. Aside from Neuropsych, is there anything else about your programs that stood out?

Hi! Also my first year applying and I’m interested in pursuing a career in neuropsych. I definitely applied to programs that had a neuropsych concentration, but I applied to 15 overall. The remaining schools were just ones that I felt like I was a good fit research wise, and they offered practicing experience in neuropsych assessment. The ones with a specific neuropsych track were obviously my favorite though :)

I received an email from Northwestern's Clinical PhD program today, indicating that the number of applications this year nearly double the amount received in previous years.

Third time applicant here, and I am trying to stay positive and not ride the rollercoaster of post-application emotions, but that is easier said than done given the craziness of this year! Northwestern is one of my top programs, so I'm hoping I have a shot.

I am also a third time applicant! It's really tough to be experiencing this on a third round - I've spent the last few years really beefing up my application and getting meaningful experience, so I just hope that shows amidst a sea of other applicants ? best of luck to you!

Question: I’ve seen a lot of informal interview invites on the general ClinPsych admissions page on GradCafe, does anyone know what the informal interviews mean? I haven’t received one and have no idea if i should be hoping to receive one or not. Any thoughts?

This varies a ton program to program, and even faculty to faculty within programs. I wouldn't say you should be expecting one, unless you see that a specific PI that you applied to is conducting informal interviews. Even then, it's hard to say if they schedule informal interviews with every candidate or just the ones they are on the fence about inviting to the formal interview.

I've also see some informal interviews from the program I'm applying to (but not my potential PI). Does this mean that they've already gone through all the applications? I'm starting to get antsy not hearing anything. Also it's only been a week since deadlines...I didn't think they'd be done this fast!

Is it a PhD or PsyD program?

I don't know who all has applied to the University of Denver but I'm a current MA student in the Counseling program and they're gonna start looking at applications end of this week/early next week! Just thought I'd share to hopefully ease some anxiety for anyone waiting. Also if you have any questions about the program feel free to PM me. Although I'm in the MA program we take the same professors and a lot of courses with the PhD students.

I'm also a part time RA in the clinical psychology dept so I can potentially answer share some info on that although its limited a lot to the lab I'm in.

Good luck everyone!

Hi! Thanks for sharing some info :)

I'm new to this thread but did apply to the University of Denver's Clinical Psyc PhD program for this cycle. I know you said that you could really only speak to the lab you're in- but I'm wondering if you could share the initials of the PI who's lab you are an RA for? I'm curious if they've started reviewing applicants yet.

I applied to work under the PI with the initials K.F. and am very interested!!

Yeah of course! I figured it may help ease some anxiety for some. My PIs initials are A.D. I don't know if that PI is looking but I know that in our lab they are starting initial reviews next week and to start reaching out in the new year. I expect that it would likely be similar for your PI too but I can't say for sure. I hope that helps I'm sorry I don't have more info.

That's helpful to know and definitely eases some anxiety. Thanks so much!
