No I’m sorry I meant Brown University in RI!

Oh ok. Thanks. Anyone got an interview invite from WashU? I applied to their phd program. But, no word from their side.

Was it any of you guys who posted the University at Buffalo acceptance on the results page? If so, I'd love to hear a little more about that process - when you applied, was there an interview, etc. Was this for the Community Health & Health Behavior PhD program? (It's showing as "Public Health, Other" in the result page).

Thank you in advance!

Just got an interview invitation for UW Global Health! Still so shocked, definitely felt like a reach program for me!

Congrats!

I also applied for the PhD program bud have not heard anything from them.. It seems I couldnt make the first screening.

Anyway do you mind telling me when you completed your application?  Crossing fingers for your success.

Thanks, crossing my fingers for you too! I applied literally the day before the deadline. Which track did you apply for?

Hi- I thought I would create a profile rather than just keep lurking. I applied to several PhD programs, some within schools of public health and others within schools of pharmacy.

Interviews done or scheduled at: UNC (pharmacy), Harvard (public health), UW (pharmacy), Maryland (pharmacy)

Waiting to hear back: Columbia (public health), Brown (public health), Yale (public health), Stanford (public health/clinical), Johns Hopkins (public health),  Emory (public health).

I would love to know if any of you have heard back from the programs I am waiting on. Thanks and good luck :)

Congrats on your interviews. Could you share which track you applied for UNC pharmacy and Harvard public health?

I did! UNC's doctoral event was this week, and the committee chair said that they'll be making decisions over the next few weeks so... at best we'll hear about decisions in late January? The program coordinator did clarify that all offers will be made with funding attached.

Thank you for the update! I had a lot of continued contact with program and then heard a bunch of applications came in right around the due date. Did you apply to any other nutrition programs?

Also follow-up question. Were you invited to the doctoral event by the program or was it a university wide event? I knew there was a virtual one in October.  Also if it was the department- had you already been matched to a lab or was this to match you to a potential PI?

Re: UNC -- I think it was to match prospective students to PIs with funding? I got an email from the department coordinator (JE) in the few days after the priority deadline closed, and that contained the info for their "Virtual Doctoral Event." The cited reason for how early the events were held (1/6, 1/7) was because the university has some available funding, but nominations have to go out the week of 1/11. My guess is that the department is spending this month tinkering with budgets to best allocate resources to applicants.

I also applied to Hopkins! So far, I've had two (very informal) calls with faculty on the committee (I think). Their decision timeline seems to be on pace with UNC (end of January). They also mentioned that UNC is their direct competitor for recruitment (lolol).

Ahh I see, I’ve been in contact with potential PIs previously. I was nervous for not knowing about the virtual event, but hopefully that’s not bad news! Do you remember how many faculty members were present/ how many PIs had funding?

Thank you! I def feel relieved because this was the only school I applied to since they were waiving the GRE. You'll experience it quicker than you think! Did you apply to UTHealth?

Ahhh gotcha! I applied in early October and had my interview Dec 10. They did mention for my program that they interview every applicant before making admissions decision if you haven't had that already. The interview is super laid back so that's even better

The nerves are sooo real. Don't feel too down! There's still lots of time until things are "finalized" in April, plus until you get a "no" in writing you're still in consideration.

Hmm I was too stressed to count the number of participants during the call LOL but I'd guess there were 1-2 faculty representing each of the 5 core interests. Funding was the question no one knew how to answer, since grants likely aren't approved until later in the spring.
