This is the first update I’ve heard about JHU’s DrPH program. Congrats on your interview! March seems so far away ?

Thanks! I know, I've been a stress ball waiting as is...but 5.5 more weeks -- we got this after waiting this long already! ?

Hey there! Any chance you applied to the Health and Public Policy track for the JHU HPM PhD? I believe that @DarkPassenger applied to the HSR track but I've been trying to track down folks who applied to HPP to commiserate lol. The wait is also killing me!! I had a very anxiety-filled dream about the JHU decision last night lol.

Hi! I applied to the health economics and policy track! I also have been trying so hard not to think about all of the anxiety that's building up. Mainly just hanging out with my cat and remembering that I still have work to do......

Not sure if this helps with anxiety, but I know someone who interviewed in mid-Jan for JHU HPM Health Econ

Honestly, it probably helps if anything. More information to better gauge next step life plan type things.

Hey all - Thanks for your updates! I only applied to DrPH programs at UNC and Hopkins (HPM concentration).

I interviewed with a Hopkins faculty member late last week. It was very laid back. Based on that convo and an email exchange with admissions, it sounds like decisions will be sent to applicants on or around the first week of March.

I have not heard anything from UNC yet. Best of luck to everyone!

Congratulations on the interview! Those are also the programs I applied to, also HPM at Hopkins. Do you mind me asking which track you applied to within HPM? I applied for health policy. Wishing you all the best and thanks so much for update on timeline!

Hi.. are you referring to WUSTL PhD in public health sciences? When did they interview you. If comfortable could you plz tell if you were an international student? My apologies for asking so many questions.

From my understanding the international/domestic status doesn't matter for WUSTL Brown School, no separate reviews. I talked to a professor for advice seeking. Some professors aren't aware of funding challenges for international students, so I reminded him the funding issues for me (my target school is a public school), and he told me at WUSTL everyone's the same.

Yeah right. It's only that I talked to three faculty members. All of them seemed to be very positive about my fit for the school. But, eventually my application never got past admissions committee. I believe the program is highly competitive

I have an interview with UCLA's PhD in CHS scheduled this week! It took them a while to lock down a date for an interview with very little communication in between. Hope this helps and good luck!

I interviewed with two admissions committee members and a potential faculty advisor Friday the 15th.

@healthequitySF Is this your second round or first?

@oboecho

Is the interview for DrPH candidates at JHU part of the process? Were you invited for it by the admissions committee?

I have not heard anything from JHU yet except for "Application Under Review"

Interviews are on an ad hoc basis. From the website, it says "...receiving a request for an interview is not indicative of an admissions decision and vice versa." I just received an email from potential faculty advisor, and I gladly accepted it. The status in the portal says "Application Under Review" on my side as well. So who knows where I stand amongst the rest of the applicants, but fingers crossed!

Whew! Goodness. How are you feeling? I'm sending you ALL THE LUCK right now. Is JHU at the top of your list?

Thank you!!! And I think the interview went well, but it was rather short and they had back to back 30 min interviews. They said I’ll get a decision in mid February. Yes, it is so send good vibes this way ?

Hello! First time posting here- had an initial interview scheduled with JHU's Mental Health PhD

I know a few people were asking so wanted to put this info out there- the faculty I interviewed with said they should be meeting in the next week or two to discuss who they are extending secondary interviews to.  (Also with JHU rejecting my Mental Health masters application back in 2017 this has been a good confidence booster- don't lose hope!)

@oboecho

Thank you! This makes me feel better. More than a month to go till we find out. JHU DrPH is the only one I applied to. I did not apply UNC as it did not seem to be a good fit for me and of any interest. Can't to a full-time DrPH either due to personal commitments, like the many of us.

Guess I'll add my info since I am starting to get nervous with all of you peeps. I applied to PhDs in Health Policy at:

Stanford
Berkeley - denied 1/26
Johns Hopkins - interviewed mid-jan
Harvard
Michigan - interviewed mid-jan, full offer 1/19 (woo!)

UCLA
Yale
UNC
Penn
USC
Brown

No responses from the rest. I haven't checked websites. All of the programs I applied Econ track, save USC (Phd PubPol) and Brown (HSR), and I did say in my Harvard letter that I would consider Policy Research Methods too.

I can post my linkedin if people are curious (if that's allowed? I dunno how to use gradcafe sorry), but my stats nothing too wild I think.

I applied to a mixture of Global and Services/Policy (LK, RM, JB)- my research interests overlap in both and from the informational I attended they said the department likes collaborative work between the faculty

@psychhopeful19

I applied for the mental health program at JHU. I didn’t receive an interview, should I assume that I was rejected and move on?:(
