sportsnerd Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hey, sportsnerd! This really isn't good news for you, but I'm pretty certain I'll be accepting a spot at Minnesota in the next day or two. However, there were only four Ph.D. people at the visit, and I think they admitted 8 or 9, so maybe some of those people who weren't there will be declining? I don't know about the other three Ph.D. people who were at the weekend. Best of luck! What's your subfield? Hmm, interesting - thanks for the update, lyoness. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to join you. My subfield is 20c American/AfAm lit.
lyonessrampant Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Sportsnerd, of the 4 of us there, 3 were early modern/medieval (including me) and the other was 19th century, so it looks like the person accepted in your area didn't come, so that could be a good sign! PM me if you get in; I'm more than happy to share what I've learned. Good luck!!!
StormyGrad Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 ... Anyone? ... I have yet to hear from two of these programs and am waitlisted at one. The wait is torture and I would really like a trip to Atlantic City until this blows over. Of course, an acceptance this week would be just as awesome. If anybody officially declined one of these schools, please share. Hello! Is anyone declining Kent State, Old Dominion, Loyola or UNLV?
Olive Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I'm declining Auburn and FSU. Both are funded PhD offers.
theboyfriend Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 lyon, At the weekend, were there any victorianists/19th brit lit? How was visiting Minny? realoldtom Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 If anyone is planning to decline Rutgers or Boston University, please let me know! I second the BU request.

I am likely to decline in any event. I'll post when I do.
digitality Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I just turned down a funded offer from U Minnesota's RSTC program. I'll be turning down an unfunded offer for NCSU's CRDM soon.
sausundbraus Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 This week I'll be turning down funded PhD offers from UCLA and University of Chicago.
wreckofthehope Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Anyone thinking of declining Rutgers Comp Lit? Also - I've pretty much lost hope for UBC now, but if anyone has a last minute change of heart I'd be delighted
Dagny1984 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Is anyone declining or waiting to hear from Temple?
Edelweiss Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I'm going to accept an offer at Florida. I'll be declining a funded offer at UMASS and an un-funded offer at Michigan State. I'll also be bowing out of my spot on the waitlist at Southern Methodist. Best of luck to those who are still waiting.

dgobox Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 She or he was the early comics admit. She or he says it in the UF thread in this forum. Hope that helps! (I'm sure that she or he will verify that for you.)

(I'm sure that she or he will verify that for you.) Yes, this is correct. I'll be on the Comics and Visual Rhetoric track. Also, for what it's worth, I'm a girl.
Edelweiss Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Thanks! And congrats to you, Edelweiss! Thanks! I feel very fortunate, and I wish success to everyone here.

wildeisonmine Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Declined offers from Michigan (joint in English and WS) and Cornell.
crutch Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I've declined offers from the schools crossed out in my signature: UC Davis, Ohio State, Rochester, Arizona State, and McMaster. I also removed myself from Toronto's waitlist.
augustquail Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I see from the results page that five Vanderbilt "secret waitlisters" (it sounds so much cooler than it is...) have been rejected. Is there anyone else (like me) who is on this list but hasn't heard anything? Also, have any Maryland waitlisters heard anything?

Is there anyone else (like me) who is on this list but hasn't heard anything? Also, have any Maryland waitlisters heard anything? Still waiting. No word at all on any of my three wait lists OR UNLV (who hasn't notified anybody at all yet)
tortola23 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Still waiting to hear from both UF and UT. They're both supposed to notify wait-listers this coming week (first week of April).
crimsonsneakers Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Any UC Riverside wait-listers hear anything?
lyonessrampant Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Going to notify U of Utah that I'm not coming. I had a 2-yr fellowship for 15K each year than I will also be declining. I hope that those go to a GC-er!
