mcruk Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I think it's cause it might be private, but I even tried putting in the group name into Facebook's search engine! Nothing popped up
Shrek Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Thanks for making the group! I can't seem to join when I go to the link and nothing comes up when I search it. Any ideas?
horizon1234 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Hello. I am wondering why people do not apply to UBC Okanagan that has not closed their application process yet. Is it considered as a low-tier credential? since UBC vancouver has offered M.S.W also. Thanks guys.
DreamingMSW Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Thanks for making the group! I can't seem to join when I go to the link and nothing comes up when I search it. Any ideas? It should allow you to join now! I had to make it public.

PregnantSeahorse Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Congrats to everyone accepted at Uoft! In your packages, was there a deadline that you have to accept by? Thanks.
kourterr Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Hey everyone ! I haven't posted for a while, but I've definitely been following along. First of all - CONGRATS to everyone who has received acceptance! I received my letter today from Toronto stating that I am on the wait list …. for the second year in a row. However, happy to say that I was accepted to HBSW program at Lakehead, the Orillia campus! For those that have posted wondering if the BSW is a good route before the MSW, it pretty much works out to be 2 years either way to obtain the MSW - I'll be doing 1 year HBSW and then will do a one year advanced MSW. Is there a Facebook group for Lakehead HBSW Oriilia campus ? Also, to all of those who are wait listed - don't give up hope - keep working towards your goals and you'll get there. It may not be the path that you had originally planned, but it's okay - it will happen
PsychologyStudent101 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 It makes me happy to read that people are getting their acceptances! All this waiting is finally paying off! Congratulations to everyone who got accepted (wherever it may be!)-- it's a huge accomplishment!
kris10 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Congrats to everyone accepted at Uoft! In your packages, was there a deadline that you have to accept by? Thanks. Hey, It said you're supposed to reply within 4 weeks from when it was sent. Mine was dated April 2.
klc14 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) I've been wait-listed for U of T.The only school I applied to. D'oh. A word of advice, apply to more than one school. Lesson learned. Anyways...I got my letter yesterday and I feel accomplished for making the cut. Has anyone been able to get out of Angela how many are on the list this year? It looks like a number of us were put on it. I read someone say 70 last year. Just curious. Edited April 8, 2014 by kathclemens b39 and MSW13 2
Meg3 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) hey! for the people accepted at U of T (2 year) that are finishing up their undergrad, do you know what percentage we need to have overall for our final semester? I believe the acceptance package said a B, but I'm wondering what % that is for U of T. Edited April 8, 2014 by Meg3 Meg3 1

Hey I've been wait listed as well and I've read that it is approx. 75 people in previous years forums although I haven't confirmed with Angela. Coming from my own thought process though it doesn't make sense to have more than that on the wait list (especially because it's not ranked) it would take them forever to re-review more than ~75 applications. Also it could just be that many people on this forum are suitable candidates so that's why a lot of us have been wait listed or accepted. Best of luck!
DreamingMSW Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I can't seem to join the group Please help! Hey! Pretty sure you're in the group now!
aab_MSW Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Okay everybody, I've been creeping on this thread for quite some time and now I need some advice! My first choice program is the MSW at U of C (2 year, International Community Development stream). I just found out that I am first on the wait list. Does anybody have experience with waitlists? Do I have an okay chance of making it in? Does anybody know how many people are accepted into this stream? So many questions! Thanks in advance
MSWluv Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 YAYYYYYYYY I GOT IN LAURIER MSW ADVANCE STANDING PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...NO MORE WAITLISTED !!! nugget, jaylynn and klc14 3
MSWLatte Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I just received my letter from U of T and I was put on a Wait-List. I am not holding my hopes up too much, but at least I know that with improvements to my application and extra experiences I have an even better chance when I re-apply. I heard some say that they've sent it their updated resumes during the waiting period. Should I send in an updated personal statement too? Congratulations to everyone who got in!

I think I inquired about that last year and Angela said no. I assume it would be too much work to go through everyones new application. The resume is just a small indication that lets them know that you're doing everything you can to improve your experience. Although I could be wrong. I'm just under the impression for some reason that she would not want that lol Edited April 8, 2014 by jaylynn

I'm so jealous, I applied to that stream too but haven't heard anything back yet. No idea on how many folks they accept to this program. Did they email you yesterday, Monday? Also, out of curiosity, what kind of experience do you have (if you don't mind sharing)? I bet you have a great shot if you're first on the wait list!

I bet you have a great shot if you're first on the wait list! I actually called them today to find out what my status was, as I had been accepted to another program at Ryerson that was wanting a tuition deposit ASAP. I called Ann Chen (the program advisor) and she looked it up for me! She said that they have been slowly sending out emails to those who have been wait listed/declined...honestly, I wasn't given a definite date stating when everybody will know by! I just know "by the end of the month" . You should just call and ask! Ann was really nice and didn't seem to mind at all. I have my BSc with a major in Psychology. I did lots of volunteering throughout my degree, specifically with the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association and the Elizabeth Fry Society. During my degree I worked at Brenda's House (a family homeless shelter) for a little less then a year, and then moved on to working frontline at Wood's Homes. I was still at Wood's at my time of application. I'm pretty excited to be first on the wait list but am also obviously nervous about the fact that it's not definite. What is your experience like? Keep me updated on what Ann says!!
