I received an email from ND yesterday titled "Update to your Application" and directing me to the portal. So I'm not sure what your not receiving anything means. I would assume a rejection, since you didn't receive an interview offer (I personally crossed them out two weeks ago), but I'm sorry that they haven't officially let you know anything yet.

From what I heard someone posting early could mean a lot of things! It may be that the acceptances are coming im waves, distributed based on research interest, or that the person got some sort of award and the program is therefore contacting them first. I say do not lose hope until you get an official email.

Yes I'd say that too. The only thing is, that Duke usually seems to send answers earlier than Feb 4, which is probably why @ThePomoHipster is even more desperate than I am!

Yup that's what it is. I won't lose hope just yet but things are looking pretty grim at this point.

Hope yet for Columbia applicants: just got a Skype interview request. The email said mine was among the final apps in my subfield being considered, which means they're sending out requests/offers by area rather than tout court, so timelines may differ. Good luck to anyone still waiting!

I was also waitlisted at Rochester last night. 

This is turning out to be a really eventful application season.

Hi, I am what people call a Lurker, but a relatively new one, so hello. 

I am so confused about the Rochester wait-lists. Have any acceptances gone out? I haven't seen any on the board. 

I botched my application here (LORs were submitted only last week!) so I won't be surprised if I don't hear back soon. But why no acceptances?

In that case its quite possible the Columbia interview requests from last week were also English. Congrats on the interview!

I'm also a bit of a lurker. I needed something to distract me from my thesis and applications, hence why i'm here haha.

I'm not too sure about what Rochester is doing in terms of sending out acceptances. I'm just pleased to be on the waitlist, at the very least.

I just got a call from my POI at UC Davis! I'm in with full funding! 

So much good news today, everyone! Congrats to all of the Pitt acceptances (and the others I may have missed in my panicked frenzy)! I'M SO EXCITED

Thank you! And I knoooow. Those two are major reasons I applied. And I was about the most awkward person on the phone (as I anticipated being), but I think it was fine. I'll follow up with more questions when I'm not running around the room trying to keep my adrenaline in check.

Afternoon gang! Yep, I'm constantly checking the results survey page. Has anyone heard back from Iowa or Oregon yet? English MFA for me hopefully. I think they don't decide until end of Feb or March, sheesh. Still, I can't help but look at who's heard back. This is crazy making...I look at the websites, all say submitted/ in review. It looks like the 3 colleges I applied to call with good news or email with bad...

Hey Sleam, welcome! I think most people in this thread have English literature/comp/rhet applications out. I think people applying for MFAs are discussing apps over in the literary arts forums: http://forum.thegradcafe.com/forum/80-literary/ I've got one MFA application out as well, among my English lit/rhet apps, so I check over there every once in a while to see what people are talking about.

I'm a long-time lurker, but I just wanted to share that I got into the English PhD program at Washington University in St. Louis!  It's a great fit for me.  Thank you all so much for providing this community - it's been so helpful to hear from other people undergoing the same challenges.  

If any other WashU applicant has any questions about my experience, feel free to message me, but I posted everything I know in the results page.  I'd also be curious to hear from any current PhD students in the program.  Best of luck to everyone!
