I could cut diamonds with how clenched my butt cheeks are. I do hope we start finding out soon. Would they be calling, posting on ACORN, the SGS Application Page, or via mail? What is U of T's preferred method of sending out acceptances?

Haha! We're getting quite the glute workout this week, at least .

Results will be posted on the main dashboard page of ACORN first (barring very rare exceptions when a couple of applicants got their letters before ACORN updated...but those letters didn't arrive during the first week of acceptances). Let's hope Thursday the 22nd is the day!! We've been saying the 23rd, but that was a Thursday last year...yup, I just intensified the anticipation, I did.

The SGS site (where you currently see "Under review" for your U of T application) likely won't update until well after you've already received your package/letter in the mail, and even then all it will say is "Decision made", regardless of whether you've been accepted, waitlisted, or rejected.

Acceptances for U of T first show up on the student portal, ACORN (no email prompt, we just check it obsessively until something shows up ). Check your email for instructions from SGS admissions on how to create a U of T JoinID, then use those credentials to log in here: http://www.acorn.utoronto.ca. If you have been accepted, you will see "Invited" in orange in the "Academics" section in the bottom left hand side of the main dashboard page that pops up after you log in (there's a screenshot of what it should look like in the last post of page 11 of this forum topic). Keep in mind that nothing will show up there if you have been waitlisted or rejected – these results are mailed, and generally don't come until all rounds of admissions are complete sometime in early- to mid-April. Also, on rare occasion, people have received acceptances in the mail without their ACORN updating first.

@cat_not_kitty You make a good summary haha. I usually check 3 times a day. Once in the morning when I am going to work, once at lunch time and once when I just finish work. I don't think they will update at night or weekends so relax yourself when you know that it is already out of their office hour  (though I know it is difficult)

I'm sitting at around 4-5 times a day as of today, so not too bad . I follow a similar schedule to yours but I work from home, so I find myself spontaneously checking a couple of times in the afternoon just in case something has miraculously popped up. And then I have this vague notion that even though results would only be entered manually during business hours, the system might update automatically sometime in the middle of the night (like the system at my undergraduate institution), and so I feel compelled to check then too...

Okay FINE: I've lost it.

Cannot WAIT to get the entirety of my brain back for more meaningful pursuits...at least 25% of it is reserved for anxious/anticipatory waiting these days and it's getting old.

I also used to check ACORN so many times a day, but I've been trying not to lately because it increases my anxiety  I still check at least twice a day (morning and night) though  I really hope some of us start hearing this week!

I am wondering if anyone has insights on what U of C's process may be? I noticed a few folks have received acceptances - do they typically send out declines towards the end? I am new to grad school applications so any knowledge that other folks have would be helpful. 

Of the people who have been accepted so far, is anyone comfortable sharing their GPA? I applied with a moderate GPA (3.3-3.4), but quite a bit of experience. I am wondering if they may start accepting well-rounded applicants (good GPA/lots of exp) first and then start to make decisions on folks with lower GPAs/less experience? I'm trying to gauge if I should be holding out hope, or start preparing myself for a decline (though the latter is probably a good idea regardless). 

The only insider info I have is this: I consulted with the department a few months ago, they said that they typically accept 1 in 6 applicants, and that GPA is weighted the highest.

I was accepted into the 1 year clinical stream. My GPA from the last two years was 3.8 or 3.9 I can't remember. My experience was only 1 year shelter work( two different shelters) and one year clinical counselling on Aboriginal reserves, and I was unemployed for a year when I applied so I had a big ugly gap in my resume which I thought for sure was going to be my undoing. I wish I had more insight into their process but this is the first and only grad application I have done☹️. I wonder if my study plan was what pushed it over the edge? I truly have no idea.

Hi everyone! A quick update on York’s 2 year applications:

I just spoke with Ammad (sp?) and he assured me that none of the 2 year results have gone out yet. The strike has affected the process, and he was very apologetic that it’s taken so long. He will be calling everyone who’s been accepted, hopefully by this Friday (March 23), and if not by Monday (March 26). He asked if I was a part of any of these online forums so I could tell other prospective students - so here I am! Hopefully this helps calm some people’s nerves, at least a tiny bit. 

Now if only U of T would tell us...

I was accepted to the 2-year Clinical stream at U of C with a GPA of about 3.6. I have quite a bit of experience (I completed my undergrad in Political Science in 2007) but it's fairly non-traditional social services experience. I served as a reserve police officer for six years and currently work as a workplace violence specialist for a public health authority in BC (Vancouver Coastal Health). I have a lot of facilitation experience as a large part of my current role is teaching courses to healthcare workers. I also have some experience in program development and I have one publication, though it is not peer-reviewed.

I really had no idea if my application would be successful or even competitive so I was very surprised to receive an offer of admission. Hope this is helpful and good luck!!

Has anyone that applied to Laurier’s 2 year program contacted them to inquire about a timeline for offers? I’ve been presented with an employment opportunity but am awaiting a decision because obviously doing my MSW is my ultimate career goal .  I was hoping that we would hear by the first week of April but I read on here that someone who applied to the on-line stream was told they wouldn’t have a decision until the end of April. I was thinking of sending an email inquiry but want to know if anyone on here has heard anything before I send it off.

For the online stream , I was told that the earlier you applied the earlier you would hear back. I believe people who applied late into February might not hear back till april. If you applied in January you may hear back before. I'm not sure about the regular 2 year program though.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for sharing your GPA and experience with me. It seems like the folks who have been accepted so far are pretty well rounded, so I am hoping they may still be sending out acceptances.

I called the Faculty of Social Work at the U of C today and they shared that both admissions advisors had been away sick this week. Hopefully they feel better soon!

So i actually joined the facebook group for MSW class of 2019. Right now everyone in the group is in the two year program, but as we are advanced we will join them next year to all graduate at the same time! The group is very active and helpful!

No kidding! Is everyone thinking that U of T will begin sending out a round of admissions this week just based on last year's timeline? I feel like everything's been delayed at every school since so many more people seem to have applied this year than last.

I find that today will be the longest day, only because they sent out Advanced Standing acceptances on the exact same day of the week from a year ago, which is causes me to buy into the idea that we might hear from them today.

I wish the admission committees were more transparent with the process, rather than leaving us in the dark
