  1. Got a different room. At least hotel staff is good. Wish some other international travelers knew how to behave themselves at the duty free alcohol isle...
  2. When ur alone in a transit hotel in china having just said goodbye to the love of ur life for another 5 months (who is not in china - just transiting) and ur next door neighbor in the hotel is some creepy old dude you talked to out of politness in the little shuttlebus on the way here and is now drunk and keeps banging ur door (and after staff told him to leave now through the walls) and telling that he wants to give u a 'good night kiss'. Some men are pig (and then im expressing it nicely) for real. And the exact reason why i hate long transits and traveling alone. FML
  3. Clinical tends to be on the business (rather than business casual) side. Still dislike how much more 'business-y' business casual is compared to back home lolz
  4. As for social - they're hiring new faculty
  5. contact the programs - must be some email about grad admissions or a grad coordinator
  6. I've been explicitly told by the uni I'm interviewing at to opt for business casual and to wear comfortable shoes. So go for COMFORTABLE shoes.
  7. relationships are so difficult... ;_;
  8. I think all interviews are on that date - but I think social is a bit behind because they're in the process of hiring new faculty and may take that into consideration (i.e., who is coming) since they're so big on everyone collaborating with everyone. Would assume they're gonna send them out very soon!
  9. Why has Narcos not been recommended? Also for a good anime; Deathnote (not to be confused with the shitty netflix movie)
  10. Publish a paper, pick up some new hobbies, make new friends, develop some skills in other areas (photography, music). Save money :3
  11. If you want to do quant, it may also be worthwhile to take some stats/maths focused classes.
  12. I'd say stay in the dress code.
  13. cities/landscapes/people just doing their natural way of life.
  14. probably overthinking it! Does your CV also say you're young? That's the question. I know people who are a lot older than you and did very little to 'develop' themselves on the side of their undergrad and people who are young who jumped on many opportunities.
  15. if you go to the twitter post that PI got a lot of shit about it
  16. For everyone feeling guilty about not studying all the time; read tinker, dabble, doodle, try (by Srini Pillay) for some scientific proof that it is GOOD and probably even productive to do other things (quite often). I love traveling, photography, cinema, music, and computer games from time to time. I also binge on netflix regularly Hope to pick up a new instrument next academic year.
  17. Since I'm in my PhD and out of my (terminal) Master's in which I also worked 20hrs on the side I finally have time for my hobbies Photography (trying to learn more too), cinema (same), discovering weird indie bands online, drawing, I hope to get my hands on a bass guitar and guitar soon (former I want to learn, latter I can play), reading, hopefully can go to concerts in my 'new' city, 'fashion'/minimalism - I hope to start a blog again
  18. I think 2018 was a pretty good year! Happy about it! Some of my dreams came true :3
