  1. rutgers newark seem to have made some offers - not sure if it depends on individual pi
  2. I know offers were made to the other 2 & 3 who turned it down
  3. know someone who was their POIs 4th choice if that helps anyone (POI was accepting 2 students)
  4. self doubttt
  5. Congrats - not at NW but who are you working with?
  6. I am an 11 hr our flight away from my family (Europe) and 14 hr from my partner (Asia). Make a Skype schedule for the times you cannot go home - you won't have to deal with time zones, so that's a lot better. You'll often have time to travel home during winterbreak and summerbreak + thanksgiving and other longer holidays.
  7. Excited to move to NYC (Columbia Psych)
  8. happy to be accepted; not looking forward to the paperwork >.<
  9. theres more than country; such as the prestige of the institution; prestige of your advisor; what and how much you publish, etc.
  10. no clue which is better, but delft is also a way more expensive place to live.
  11. I got in April 11th for my top choice lol - but was indeed waitlisted originally.
  12. If you know you're not going, there is no point in keeping them on. It can both hurt the school (late offers may be less likely to be accepted) and other applicants.
  13. wowwowwow.. honestly probably better you're not going there.
  14. You can do it!!! Rest!! Treat yourself a big coffee before the itnerview (did help me)
  15. Ugh i hate 9am classes
  16. I just hate my paralyzing self-doubt from time to time
  17. Depends on what specific policy related stuff you want. For some things they only want permanent residents or US nationals - but it relaly depends on your sector and the info you'd be dealing with.
  18. I did this actually, and the department was totally OK. You want to show them that the flight prices are either the same or cheaper or smthing. Or otherwise, they'd only refund you for flights on those days usually.
  19. well, if you have multiple offers and you need to decide, it's fair to ask. However, it may as well be that they don't have the exact numbers YET.
  20. You could try, but often you won't get any good feedback. I think it also depends on how far you have been in the process (i.e., if you weren't invited to interviews you'd probably get something generic) and how willing the prof is to give feedback. Do not however that I've met 2 profs so far who literally decided between their top 2 candidates with a coin flip.... So never take a rejection to personal
  21. Yes, it's good to thank people for their time and say something like you enjoyed the conversation. If you have any questions (including research related), you can also ask them in e-mail, but don't overdo it. Some people use this to keep on the profs radar, but I doubt if it really helps..
  22. research is going welllll. and my confidence is back
  23. my workouts are paying off
  24. From the angle of a current grad student. I'd be happy to answer questions about any ongoing work in the lab.
