  1. Hi all! I got an email on Saturday (April 14th) that said I was accepted off of the waitlist! Very surprised to hear back BEFORE April 15th! But hopefully you'll all be hearing back too! I'm honestly not sure what to do, because I'm waitlisted at other schools also. I also just started to come to terms with the fact that I probably wasn't going to grad school and started to make new plans and arrangements for the next year. Now I dont know what to do! AAhhhh Best of luck!
  2. I actually just heard from Temple on Saturday (4/14) and I was accepted off of the waitlist! I still haven't heard anything about financial aid.
  3. I also really appreciate this thread! I was super super down on myself after the first few rejections rolled in. I am waitlisted at two of my top 5 schools, but even if I were to get off the waitlist at MGH, I wouldn't be able to afford it. I'm still not exactly sure what I'm going to do if I don't get in anywhere. But I'm really trying to use these rejections to fuel some motivation in other areas of my life. I'm trying to build a relationship with God and leave my anxieties and fear with Him, and let Him guide me to where I'm meant to be. I'm also using this as a time to try and be a part of new experiences that I wouldn't be able to try if I had been accepted somewhere thus far. For example, my job is offering me a management position at the restaurant I work at. I want to try and expand this and work at a wine tasting room and maybe take my sommelier test over the summer. Again, I'm trying to look at this situation as a journey that God wants me to go on. Maybe He wants me to trust in Him and the joys of life that He has provided me, rather than only devote every second of my life to school. Trust me, I'm so scared. I dont know exactly what I'm going to do because I gave up a lot of things this year to apply to graduate school. But changing my perspective has definitely helped me from ripping my hair out in the meantime (not kidding) We're all going to be okay. <3
  4. Congrats!! That makes me feel a lot better because my GRE scores were definitely not helping my chances as well. Good luck with the other schools
  5. Hi! I submitted my application to Temple the week of the due date. Still haven't heard back yet, but I know some people have. I just checked my portal and under the to-do list, there was a check mark that says "You have outstanding financial aid requirements that are preventing your reward from being processed" and it is marked as complete. Did anyone else notice this? Should I be excited that there is a potential financial aid award for acceptance or does everyone go through this step?? I'm just going crazy and need to hear some good news!!

  7. I emailed MGH IHP and George Washington and told them that I was extremely interested in their program and sent an updated resume for the admissions committee to review. I also made up a list of all of my completed prerequisite courses with another copy of my unofficial transcripts and the syllabi for those classes. There's absolutely nothing wrong with reaching out and asking questions or adding to your application! You paid money to apply and are dedicated to earning a great education GO GET IT!! haha
  8. Waitlisted at MGH (kinda excited/kinda bummed lol) and at George Washington. Being waitlisted stinks because it just makes the uncertainty last even longer still waiting to hear from 5 schools! Good luck!
  9. Hi, Could i also be PM'd with a template? Thank you so much!! @edardi1
  10. Does anyone know if NYU releases decisions in waves? I noticed that everyone who heard back was accepted (no waitlists or rejections) and so I'm nervous that since I didn't hear yesterday that I was rejected. Congrats to all who got in!!
  11. How prepared did you feel before starting in the clinic? I think my biggest fear is that they will throw you in with clients and expect you to know exactly what to do immediately! How long did you have classes before you began treating? Thanks again for offering your help
  12. Panicking because I've been rejected and waitlisted so far ... still waiting on *hopefully* one acceptance
  13. I know of a girl who completed the minor at our school and was accepted to Temple. Our minor was made up of ASHA-required courses. I applied super late in the cycle so I don't think I'll be hearing back anytime soon ): I applied the same way that she did (out of field, but minor completed)
  14. Does anyone know if we'll receive an email notification from UNC Chapel Hill? Or will it be listed on the portal? Most of these online portals don't have a spot for a decision (Stockton, Vanderbilt, George Washington, etc.) I have a heart attack every time I get a new email... UNC's application was due a while ago so I'm hoping to hear back soon!
  15. I think I'm actually going to go crazy waiting for decisions!! Now that we're halfway through February, I keep updating my emails and checking my application portals like every hour Has anyone found a better way to deal with decision anxiety because I don't think I'm going to make it!!
  16. A lot of schools are starting to really embrace people who don't have an SLP undergrad major! UVA said that half of their incoming class are Track 2's (non SLP undergrad). If you're taking the time to apply to grad school, you are clearly a great applicant already no worries! You sound like you are more qualified than you think! P.S. i love seeing people who are applying to some of the same schools as me because I start to think that we could potentially be in the same class! AHH Best of luck!
  17. Where are you applying? Columbia University Teachers College, University of Virginia, University of North Carolina, UPitt, NYU, Vanderbilt, Kean, BU, MGH Institute of Health Professions Where are you from? New Jersey What are your concerns? That my GRE Scores will deflect them from looking at my application despite my experiences and GPA! Also that even if I do get into these places, that I won't be able to afford them! GPA: 3.905/4 GRE: Less than 50th percentile Experiences: undergraduate practicum in 4 elementary schools, 80+ hours of volunteer work, 80 hours of shadowing SLP, internship in speech clinic, leadership experiences in almost all college extracurriculars, currently employed on a research project at UVA, nanny, waitress
  18. I'm trying to finish up my application for Columbia's CSD program and do not know how to format my optional essay. I know I need to discuss my GRE scores (below par) but focus on how my GPA is great and I have a lot of volunteer/work/professional experiences. Should this be a blunt statement? Or should it be put in a nicer way like every other personal statement? Applying to: Columbia, UVA, UNC, Vanderbilt, Pitt, BU, MGH, Kean, NYU
