Fall 2020 Clinical/Counseling Interview Invites

Should I email my POI to see if I've been rejected from LSU? It looks like invites are possibly finished but there was a considerable delay with my application due to something strange that happened with the transcripts from a transfer institution. I don't want to come off as rude, but I'd rather know now than in February and one of the people on the results page said they emailed their POI to find out.

Honestly I wouldn’t. I applied too and haven’t heard anything, it seems like probably only some of the PIs have reached out so far. We also have more than a month until LSU’s interview weekend. If you haven’t heard anything by the second week of January then I would reach out, but doing it before is risky. I know it’s hard to wait though!!

Definitely don't. You will find out either way but it looks really unprofessional to reach out imo.

For those of you who are being put up at a grad students home for interviews, are you getting a gift for your hosts? If so, what are you getting? Would love to hear from current grad students as well if you are on this form.

Same!

From what I've heard just a thank you card is fine, but a small ~10 dollar gift card to Starbucks or something is always appreciated!

As a current grad student, I would say no. A thank you email is enough.

I'm not a grad student, but this is such a cute, thoughtful idea!! I'm surprised people are saying don't do this. I don't think it would hurt to do an act of kindness for the grad student that hosted you. I would do something small though, like somebody suggested above maybe a Starbucks gift card or something.

As another current doctoral student, I agree with the quoted person – a thank you gift to your host 100% won’t affect application decisions; save your money and just send a thank you email afterwards.

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't heard anything either! I'm waiting to hear from RT.

If you'd like to do something, a handwritten thank you note would be nice. But of course not necessary

To the Results poster who got invited for an in-person interview at University of Maryland College Park for their Counseling Psychology program, congratulations! Would you mind DMing me the initials of your POI? Thank you:-)

How do you respond to an interview invitation from a POI if it conflicts with some of your higher choices that haven’t invited you yet? I’d like to wait a little longer before responding but I also want them to know I’m very interested in their program and thrilled to have the opportunity to interview with them.
