Pop Health PhD

Same! I wouldn't give up hope yet. I had contacted them to get some sense of when I might hear back either way and they told me I was first on the waiting list. I don't think not having heard anything necessarily means you're rejected! I think their rollout of offers is just a little different than most schools.

I decided to apply; did so this past weekend. It's exciting that they're starting the new program. It sounds great - I went to the info session back in Feb.

I also applied over the weekend! With April 15th a month away, I wonder how fast they’ll let us know or if they’ll interview.

More waiting!

I just heard back from the last program I applied to and it is another waitlist. So I am waitlisted at Johns Hopkins SBS and Northwestern HSIP Social Sciences and Health Track.

I was rejected from Columbia SMS, Yale, Brown, U Mich, and Harvard (no interviews so that makes sense).

It there really any hope of getting off the waitlist at either program? I appreciate any input!

As we go through the waiting process in solidarity, let's remember these roots once we become PIs, health officials, leaders, etc.. and remind ourselves that students' time is VALUABLE and that it is in our best interest to respond to them in a timely matter, just like we will to our eventual colleagues and supervisors. I really really hope they extend the acceptance for funding deadlines beyond April 15th just because there are so many (like myself) still waiting to hear back and it doesn't seem fair to not even let us know if we are on an informal waitlist at least, while only giving us a few days to a week to make arguably one of the biggest decisions of our lives.

Good luck to anyone else still waiting and for those deciding, no pressure but there are many anxious folks waiting to take a spot for offers you defer!

If they extend the 415 deadline then those on the waitlists would even hear later, this will just become a vicious cycle lol.

No idea! It wouldn't hurt to ask. Admissions has been pretty responsive with questions that I've asked thus far. If you do ask, could you share back here?

Anyone else still waiting to hear from the BU DrPH program? I interviewed in early Feb but haven't heard back since. Seems that a lot of folks have heard back (waitlist, rejection, acceptance) already, not sure what to make of it.

Received my rejection from USF (after interview). Really heart broken. Worked so hard on this and planned for this over 2 years. This is my 4th rejection. Now I am only waiting to hear back from Rutgers and I dont have any hopes. I guess this just wasnt meant to be. Perhaps ill think of applying in another 5 years.

Just got offered MPH from NYU instead of PhD. As an international student with all degrees outside the US, debating whether I should take this deal and get ANOTHER MPH.
I’ve heard there’re higher chances for PhD programs if you show you can “make it” in American school systems.
Thoughts?

I would not think a US MPH would be necessary especially you have one MPH already. If you apply for other schools' master degrees, you might get better ones. NYU's really expensive.

Anyone heard back from Berkeley DrPh program? So anxious

I'm also in the same boat. I haven't heard anything (acceptance, rejection, waitlist) from Berkeley's DrPH program. Keeping my fingers crossed they will send decisions this week!

I heard back about my decision in early February (acceptance). We had an admit day this past Monday. I think it's fair at this point to email the program director asking about the status of your application.

maybe we are waitlisted since acceptance and rejection sent out already.
I emailed them last weekend and the said “We are still sending out notifications over the course of the next couple of weeks”.

Hi everyone, just wanted to update that I applied to 3 DrPH programs and 1 PhD. So far 1 rejection at UNC, interviewed at Indiana University still waiting to hear, and just got accepted to USF after interviewing 2 weeks ago. The PhD program I applied to Maastricht Univ, Netherlands. Has a pretty good reputation and also a part-time program tailored for working professionals. I was also accepted there. I am incredibly lucky to have been accepted in at least 2 schools given that I cannot stop working full-time nor did I want to retake the GREs. With most schools dropping GRE requirement I felt this was my one chance!

Though I'm still waiting for Indiana, I have already decided I will go with Maastricht because I work in Africa and it's easier and cheaper to fly to Europe for classes than the USA.

I wish everyone that is still waiting the best! I am a working mom with 2 small kids so my plate is already overflowing but I didn't give up and I hope you won't either. I also encourage everyone who did not gain acceptance to broaden their net when reapplying.

Hi all. Got accepted to MS in HSR Policy and administration at Uni of Minnesota instead of PhD. Is it worth it going there and then apply for phd? Also, what if one accepts the offer intially and then declines it later. Asking because I will be more clearer about my financial status by July. But have to accept the MS program by April. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations from a fellow working mom of 2 small kids!! I'm also beginning part time studies in the fall so can appreciate overflowing plates. Wishing you all the best and congrats on your accomplishments!
