Anyone heard from UOttawa today? There is still time for the offices to close, I hope they send out some offers atleast.

I was on the Munk website and came across this:

The deadline for applications to the Munk School of Global Affairs MGA program for fall 2017 has passed, and application files are currently under review. Late applications to the MGA are possible. If you wish to submit a late application to the MGA program, please contact mga@utoronto.ca for more information.

In addition, prospective students who are affected by the US-based travel ban, and who wish to transfer their studies to the Master of Global Affairs (MGA) program at the University of Toronto, should also contact mga@utoronto.ca. In these cases we can provide further information regarding how to apply for transfer, and on a case by case basis the number of credits that may be eligible for transfer for the 2017-2018 academic year.

I thought it was interesting they mentioned the travel ban and are doing something about for people wanting to transfer. Fingers crossed for those people who applied to Munk, and that we get an offer/ hear something by next week!

Nope :( Another freaking weekend to go through

This is really weird but my GSPIA application, which is still 'under evaluation' added two documents to my requirements page that are unchecked. They are 'official final transcript' and 'official proof of diploma'.... Does anyone else see that?

I would say that is probably a very good sign. Congrats, mate.

Yes same programme international development and global studies Ottawa u. She said they just start reviewing files. I have to say my file just completed last week and I submitted my supporting documents mid February

I was accepted into the program with funding about two days ago! I am not sure about other applicants but I think I got early acceptance.

Guysss I am so torn, I have been awarded OGS at Carleton (Which most likely means I am getting into NPSIA), and an amazing funding package from the School of International Development and Global Studies (at UOTTAWA) and the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA). I have no idea what school I am going to accept, realistically speaking though the offer from SIDGS will leave me debt free. I literally have two weeks to decide :( This is so stressful!

If I were to go with the SIDGS offer would I be limiting myself? Since the focus is on International Development, I am wondering the career prospects in this field an the co-op

Depends what you're passionate about, really. You will probably have better raw career prospects (in terms of availability and choice) with GSPIA or NPSIA but if you are really focused on development specifically then a development specific program makes more sense.

Were you going to focus on development anyway?

At NPSIA I am planning on the project management and humanitarian aid cluster or the development policy and for GSPIA I am planning on focusing on development.

If you are already going to be specializing in development, and their funding offer is amazing, I would go with the uOttawa development program. I think you will learn the same things ( you have to do an MRP anyways for GSPIA too, and I imagine you would be doing it on the same topic regardless of GSPIA or SIDGS, so really the difference is a few courses? I'm sure the development courses at GSPIA are the same ones at SIDGS anyways) The coop opportunities will likely be really similar to be honest - federal government.

I mentioned this yesterday but was wondering if anyone else sees this on their GSPIA application once they click on the page where it shows all their documents?

Hi everyone! I've been following this thread for a while, so I thought I'd finally post as I am also anxiously waiting for Munk. Good to know that our wait should be over early/mid next week.

I've been accepted into UBC's MPPGA program; has anyone heard anything about this one? It's a newer program (currently in its second year).

I also applied to the University of Oxford, King's College London and London School of Economics and Political Science, but they were all long shots! I don't expect to hear from these until the end of the month.

Congrats on your acceptance to the MPPGA program! I hear it is a well regarded program in terms of prestige! However, I do have a friend currently in it, and she was not quite as thrilled when I talked to her earlier this year when I was deciding where to apply. Apparently there is not a lot of substance in her classes, and she kind of feels as though she has been lost among all of the other students at UBC. Then again, take it with a grain of salt as those are just the experiences of one person, and the program does seem to have name recognition.

I am waiting out Munk with you, but hope that we will all get some good news soon :D Plus funding, because Munk is pretty expensive when you factor the cost of living in Toronto and nearly 22 grand in tuition.

Good luck with your other applications as well! You cant go wrong with those schools, and I really hope you get some good news from them :)

Ditto on what the above poster said. A few friends of mine have done their MAs at UBC and taken some of the MPPGA courses during their programs. None of them have had much good to say.Tthey also said the profs seemed a bit constrained in what they could expect from students, making it a less intellectually engaging course.

My conditional offer from GSPIA stated that I have to upload both of those by the fall/winter, so I think that may be a sign that you've been accepted! I don't want to get your hopes up if I'm wrong, but I think those appeared for me as well! Best wishes! :-)

Is there a reason why there are so many transcripts from my schools? (I've already completed my studies from both these institutions).

I thought the same! Why would they ask for those documents otherwise? Anyways, I'll just wait anxiously for tomorrow.
