I received the email on the 3rd, but still haven't received any details or a funding offer. I was offered 12k for the 1st year and an additional 8k for the 2nd based on academic performance. I got the initial acceptance email on March 1st but the scholarship info didn't come until the 7th so your may still be on its way. I'm likely going to turn down the offer mainly because the program is still so much more expensive than the others even with that funding. Good luck!
NPSIA grad Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Yeah me too, I'm calling tomorrow just to get 100 percent confirmation on what the details are. I'll post what I find out. I'd love to just ditch economics over the summer and focus on working full time and saving money instead. I've taken micro so I am hoping I can just take macro in the fall. pixiedustxo 1
IR.Applicant Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Hi everyone. I got my official offer today from NPSIA and under Program Requirements it shows: Program Requirements Program Credits: 5.00 Weight: Additional Courses: 1.00 ECON 1000 ECON 1000 or an equivalent university level introductory micro- & macroeconomics (1.0 credit) with a grade of B- or better in each course must be completed by December 15, 2017. Total Remaining Credits: 6.00 Does anyone else have the same thing? What does it mean by program credits? Do I have to take other courses?

I think that means like the credits you need to graduate from NPSIA plus ECON. 2 IR.Applicant 1
Hopeful2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Great videos on GSPIA professors - they sound amazing.
unblinkingbleb Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Hey guys, Long time lurker / first time poster. Do you think I would be crazy to turn down a SSHRC scholarship for a normal MA program in favour of attending NPSIA (with 22,500 funding)??? Don't know what to do!

harmanationn Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) Long time lurker, but am now officially freaked out enough to make a post. Tabbatha e-mailed me my unofficial NPSIA MA acceptance on Tuesday March 7th, but my Carleton portal hasn't updated with a specialization or funding, nor have I received an official offer. Is freaking out justified? I'm convinced I was accepted by accident. Edited March 14, 2017 by harmanationn
Hopeful2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Which do you think is the best funding offer? For some reason, my MPPA offer seems better than this NPSIA one. I also haven't gotten my offer yet - but the email said 5-8 business days and that gives until Friday. The wait deff sucks but if you got that email you are NOT a borderline candidate.

You're getting more free money with the MPPA, but if you like the idea of being a TA, then the NPSIA plan is better.

I prefer NPSIA over the MPPA to be honest but I'd rather the latter's funding offer l hope GSPIA gives me a good offer this week and that will help make the decision a little easier. I am so glad I found this forum, as I have been keeping up with past forums regarding this topic. So let's just say you all gave me a heart attack - I am also applying to NPSIA, GSPIA, MUNK, Waterloo (Masters in Development Practice), and SIDGS (also ottawa). I have applied for SHHRC and OGS in most of these schools, which by the way is a very time consuming process but hopefully it will pay off! I've submitted the online portion of my applications but I haven't started my letter of intent yet because school and work have really been stressful, however I'm not too worried but based on what i have read on here, most of you guys have already submitted your application! Do you guys know what the committees looks for during the selection process? Specifically for NPSIA, MUNK, and GSPIA? I look forward to your responses! Hi did you hear anything from SIDGS Ottawa u? Any update?

I have no idea what school I am going to accept, realistically speaking though the offer from SIDGS will leave me debt free. I literally have two weeks to decide This is so stressful! If I were to go with the SIDGS offer would I be limiting myself? Since the focus is on International Development, I am wondering the career prospects in this field an the co-op Hi comgrats on your offers! I did apply for SIDGS but they told me offers will be sent out from end of March to end of June? Did you apply early?

From the School of International Development and Global Studies at UOttawa, they are offering me a $15,000 dollar scholarship and also a $18,000 Research/TAship... I am in absolute shock. I was already undecided between GSPIA and NPSIA and now my decision is even harder but this program is offering me the most money and I love the area of International development. Helppppp Do u mind if I ask when did u apply for SIDGS? I did apply to their program but no update still under evaluation

Hopeful2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Is it 21 business days from when you receive your letter of offer or just in general 21 days including weekends?
Hopeful2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) Also, I found something weird on both funding offers for Carleton's MPPA and NPSIA. I have this listed for both programs under the "view/accept/decline funding" link: 2017/18 Domestic Entrance Masters Offered 2,000.00 1,000.00 Pending 1,000.00 Pending 0.00 n/a None 2017/18 Domestic Entrance Masters Offered 2,000.00 1,000.00 Pending 1,000.00 Pending 0.00 n/a None 2017/18 Scholarship Departmental Offered 2,000.00 666.67 Pending 666.67 Pending 666.66 Pending None 2017/18 Scholarship Departmental Offered 7,500.00 2,500.00 Pending 2,500.00 Pending 2,500.00 Pending None 2017/18 Scholarship Departmental 2 Offered 3,500.00 1,750.00 Pending 1,750.00 Pending 0.00 n/a None 2017/18 Teaching Assistants Offered 5,144.00 2,572.00 Pending 2,572.00 Pending 0.00 n/a None Which comes to 22,144 for both programs? It's weird because on my statement of standing, I only received 19k for the MPPA and 19,244 for NPSIA. And for Carleton's MPPA on the statement of standing it doesn't show a TAship - but on the funding awards tab it does? ^ Can anyone help? If this is truly the amount of funding I'll be receiving, for NPSIA/MPPA, my decision will be a lot harder. Edited March 14, 2017 by Hopeful2017

Basically Awards and Funding:View/Accept/Decline Awards shows all Year 1 funding from all programs you've been accepted to at Carleton, mixed together. To see how much you get from the individual programs (i.e. how much you would actually receive in total if you were to accept NPSIA vs. MPPA), look instead at Statement of Standing:View/Accept/Decline Offer of Admission. This is where your funding is outlined, for both years of the program.
