I was informed by the admissions office at Ryerson today that interview invitations are still going out and that even if you did not receive an invite for a preliminary interview you may still be accepted. So don't give up hope yet! :-)

thanks for that :)

Just a random question: has anyone followed up with their POIs to see if they've had a chance to review your applications or with the graduate secretaries for each school? Just wondering if and when it would be appropriate to email them.

I think it is still early for most schools. I don't expect to hear from UofM about an interview (if they do one) for another week or two. New Brunswick will be at least another three weeks. McGill, well that was much earlier than I expected to hear back about. I won't be contacting any prof's until at least a week after I expect interview invitations to be sent out.

I would say, look at when most students are being contacted for interviews and add a few days at the earliest. They need time to look at your application. Patience is key!!! Remember, some profs will not be doing interviews at all if they have someone already in mind for who they want to select, so not being asked for an interview is not a end-all scenario. I was in top two for selection at Manitoba last year, there was a flip of coin almost in deciding which student to choose between, and there was no interview at all. Don't lose faith!!!!

the wait to hear back is KILLING me and i'm tempted to reach out to some of my POIs as well but i've stopped myself b/c i'm afraid that it may come across as pushy. after all, if POIs want to interview you, they will get in touch... right? any thoughts? has anyone had success w reaching out to a POI after submitting an app?

that being said, i've emailed a few grad secretaries and they have been nice/informative.

The wait is killing me too, but I think contacting them may very well come off as pushy/too entitled to their time (depends on the individual of course, but still). I think we all just need to stay strong!

Agreed. I did end up contacting a couple grad secretaries because the interview dates are very soon or have passed. They are very informative for sure! I would hold off on emailing POIs as well.

Haha thank you Noctiv. I think you're right.

do POIs read CIHR and/or OGS applications?

I think after a person has been accepted they may delve into it, but it doesn't seem to be a part of the application package that they receive initially, no.

For those of you who have heard from Windsor, were you contacted by your POI to schedule a Skype interview? Or is the interview with the director of clinical training?

New Brunswick usually starts contacting people for interviews in the first or second week of February, FYI!

The POI contacted me shortly after the director to set up a time with me. I don't think the director is going to do an interview.

Does anyone have any information or insight on the interview process at Saskatchewan? Thank you in advance!

When I did an interview with them 4 years ago, I interviewed on the phone for around an hour with a member of faculty who was not my POI. This was near the beginning of February. It was a very relaxed interview.

Same here!! Do they have an official interview date for prospective candidates, or it is at the POI's discretion?

I haven't heard anything either but have heard that they might take a big longer than other schools. This morning I got an email saying I need to check online because I may be missing some documents as they have changed their admission checklist but when I went on uApply, there is nothing that needs to be changed. Just emailed them to clarify...

I have no idea, But it is more rational to have an interview with our POI
