I have a question for everyone about being "recommended for acceptance". If this is the case, and your POI has "recommended you for acceptance" to the university, is this like an unofficial offer before receiving the actual offer? Congrats to everyone who has been accepted and good luck to everyone else :)

I think faculty generally submit their recommendations to an admissions committee or to the university, who then review candidates to make sure they meet the program's requirements like GPA, GRE scores, etc. The department also might still be establishing which profs have priority for accepting students, and in that case, the committee will determine which recommended students will receive offers.

So it isn't an unofficial acceptance, but definitely promising! :)

Thanks. It seemed like the people who got invites were applying to developmental clinical though. Do you know of anyone who got an invite for adult clinical

I feel like someone on here got one from adult. But I am not sure

The unofficial offer is usually not made by the POI before the psych graduate committee has met and made their picks. Personally, I was contacted by the Psychology Chair about my acceptance, meaning that the committee had already met and sent their picks to the graduate dean, who's the only one allowed to make an official offer. At least that's what I know :)

My application also says under review and I haven't heard anything from professors. If interviews have already started, should that mean something? :S

At Open House they said it would be mid-February with decisions at the earliest in March, but I'm not sure if that's been pushed back with the admissions date being pushed back a month.

Let's hope!

Was the application date pushed back?

i also emailed someone about this and i got this back "We have shortlisted several applicants for interviews which are taking place this week. From there offers of admission will be made. All applications remain open until all of our admission spots are filled. All applicants will be notified by April 15 at the latest whether their applications has been accepted or declined"

Clarification question: is the York open house only for the clinical developmental stream, or does it include the clinical adult stream applicants as well?

Thanks!

It's for both - Both clinical areas do a combined Open House with general content related to doing clinical psychology at York, and then more breakout sessions for C and CD depending on which area you applied to.

OK, thanks! Would you also happen to know if all the invites have been sent out? I've heard from my POI about an interview but no mention of date/time or open house.

Hmm if you've heard back from your POI already that's surprising that they didn't tell you about the Open House...usually they invite students that they would like to meet further on that day. Perhaps contact your POI to ask them?
