inchoate-eyes Posted February 10, 2020 Share Posted February 10, 2020 I'm on a waitlist at a school that I am not interested anymore (got an offer that I'm almost 85% taking depending on if I get into other schools). What is the best language to use to email the school that I don't want to be on the waitlist anymore? Or should I wait until I have officially accepted an offer? It sounds quite tricky to phrase, but I think if you know you're not going to take a waitlist, it helps them out a lot (they can make another offer, they can possibly fly the person out for recruitment, etc). I somehow managed to not shriek on the plane but I was definitely doing a happy dance in my seat. I am so insanely pumped and so extremely grateful! I know last year it was very helpful to know that about those who held multiple offers since they could obviously only go to one spot and, assuming most places offer the spot to someone in a similar area (not always the case), it gives those on waitlists an idea of if they might be moving up on the list or not. And I was in deep despair because I hadn't heard when other people posted acceptances! One of my top 2 choices and I'm over the moon. For those applying to NYU, don't lose hope!
