Official Interview Thread 2017
Callen replied to joyannna's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi guys, my interview with Central Michigan university is this friday! It's an online group interview, but they haven't given me any sort of structure to it or like broken it up - I guess I'm assuming it's just a bunch of questions for an hour. Does anyone know what their format is like??- 200 replies

What programs are more medical-based?
Callen replied to maurmaur's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I'm pretty sure University of Iowa is more med-based, or at least it has more opportunities for that kind of thing because it's a really great medical school and is surrounded by some hospitals ! Otherwise, it's hard to tell bc all programs try to stress that you do both and can learn in both areas. I'm curious to see if anyone has some good answers to this - I'm more interested in medical settings. -
@Abby Marie @Akon I haven't heard anything either!

I have a feeling I'm going to be in this boat because I was waitlisted at University of Oregon, which is definitely one of (if not my top) my top choices.

Hi !! Just saw you're from Michigan- any ideas what CMU and MSUs programs are like?? I have some idea based on their website, but not too much idea of them!

I ended up applying to 10 schools also, ah. So much money. All I want is one acceptance ? -
Congrats on the acceptances and interviews everyone!!! I'm still playing the waiting game...but should hear about an interview from St. Ambrose this week...ah.

This thread is great! Here are mine: Hopes: same as all, I want to get in somewhere above everything else. I applied to 10 schools, but I think at this point anything could happen. Dreams: I'd really like to go to University of Oregon. I'd love to get a feel for a different area, so I think it'd be a great experience to move out of the Midwest. However, I'm unsure of how likely it is that I'll get in here, so I guess we will just have to play the waiting game! Guess:I'm assuming I may end up at St. Ambrose University - they seem to like students from my university (which doesn't offer a comm disorders major). Or I may be applying next year, but I'd like to have more hope than that

Hi!! Just wanted to say that I live in the Midwest (Iowa in particular, but I've been to many surrounding states), and if you have any questions about living over here, feel free to ask!
-
Darn!! But I'm pretty sure CSDCAS doesn't supply the letters, you'd have to ask whoever wrote them if you could look at them.

I am definitely impatient, keep trying to tell myself I won't know for a long time. Also trying to focus on school is hard when you apps are in and you could be going to grad school next fall

Not too long once my transcript arrived to CSDCAS!! I think maybe 3 days? It took awhile for my updated transcripts to arrive to CSDCAS though. I think it depends on the school - some are picky and want everything verified by the deadline, whereas others just say "as long as you manually entered your update, no biggie"

I'm also annoyed by CSDCAS, but somehow managed to pull through before my deadline of the 15th and get all the verifications in on time. Thank god. This will be a helpful thread to anyone applying for Fall 2018. My one tip to everyone applying for future programs: Get your transcripts in ASAP, and submit at least one application ASAP because verification doesn't begin until you submit your first application. (CSDCAS was so vague on this - I can't believe they didn't mention this in highlight anywhere)

I've heard countless times that SLP grad school is competitive, so I put it as this "SUPER COMPETITIVE" thing in my mind. I'm kind of hoping it ends up being less competitive than my brain thinks. If not, I guess I won't be disappointed because I'll have already known that it really is that competitive.
-
I'm on the higher end because I somehow have funds for it, and I've applied to 8 so far. I have 2 others I believe I'm applying for, so mine will be 10. I kinda went a little overboard because I'm worried about getting in and want to have choices between schools.

My Academic Update finally processed and was verified. Right on time, too, seeing as my first wave of applications are due on the 15th! The end is so close.
