    Hey everyone
What are some things you wish you had in grad school or are thankful that you currently have?
Just trying to get ready like everyone else!

I am really sorry. It is a daunting process. I don't mean that you should give up hope BY ANY MEANS, but do you have other plans in mind? Maybe it will help you feel better if you started thinking about what all you can do if grad school doesn't happen this year. Focus your energy on all the different things you can do or want to do, and be prepared regardless of what ends up happening. Take care of yourself and keep faith!

Love your positive attitude. I can tell you will be an amazing SLP because of that optimism alone. Good luck with everything!!!

Waitlisted at 5 schools?! You’re obviously impressing people and there is a lot of time for you to get off one of those waitlists still! Good for you for keeping a positive, enthusiastic attitude. That hard work will pay off!

    Hi everyone!
No grad school for me this fall, which is okay Who else is beefing up their resumes and trying again?? I was rejected everywhere but one school last year (couldn't afford it, turned it down), was wait listed at 5 schools this year and rejected at 3, seems like we're on track to get in if I keep putting in the work haha.
Congrats to everyone who got in this year, can't wait to work with you all in the future. Logging off for a few months - what a process

You need to aim for more As in your COMD classes. Just imagine that these next classes determine the rest of your life. You’ve already gotten some Bs, so I’d really suggest you find a method of studying that results in more As (and not rely on the professor rounding grades)
You won’t be fairing well if you have a C in your COMD classes. (Because Cs are considered failing/need to retake in grad school)

I think you can do well in the accelerated program, they wouldn't have accepted you otherwise! The time, energy, and gas/mileage you save from not choosing school B can be invested into school A. And then you graduate a semester earlier and get into the real world sooner too. I'll add in a disclaimer however that I am someone who's commuted an hour or more depending on traffic (and then parking was its own issue) throughout undergrad and I know just how draining it is. No one needs that in grad school. Trust your abilities, and work your ass off in grad school. You'll do great.

Honestly it feels like a no-brainer to take that full tuition + stipend, if you're fine with living in that horrendous weather up there. Just my opinion but I think it's entirely worth it to do one more year of long distance in order to get out debt free. If you already feel good about UIUC's program, then don't be fooled by the idea of attending a "dream school" when we're all learning the same thing and getting the same degree. Again, just my take on it!

krinklecat reacted to LaceySpeechie in “Top-Rated” schools are drastically overrated, IMO.
I agree with the above post - the original poster doesn't seem to be hating on top-rated programs, rather saying that it's okay to go to programs that are less well-known or popular. And I think that's a really important idea to spread! Of course you should be proud of yourself regardless of where you get in, no matter where it is or how highly-ranked it is, and it's alright if you don't go to the most competitive, expensive, famous programs. As long as your program is accredited (or on track for accreditation) you'll get your CCC's, and know what you need to know to do your job. I think regardless of major, it can be easy for us to gravitate towards schools that are high-rated and often-mentioned, but as has been said, all programs have their pros and cons and it's less about what program is "the best" vs. what program is the best for you. That's not a bad message to be sharing at all!

You received a full scholarship to MGH - roughly $115, 000 - and you're questioning whether you should go? Really? Personally, I would be immensely grateful to have received any scholarship money at all.

krinklecat reacted to erinmeg001 in Decision Deadline before April 15..HELP!
It is actually illegal for graduate schools to pressure you to make a decision before April 15. This happened when NYU accepted me & gave me 2 weeks. I found out there is an April 15th law & saw NYU was on the list of schools that promises to abide by it. I emailed them & told them, they immediately gave me until April 15. I would say something to them.

I submitted my first CSDCAS application early morning of December 24th and it was verified by 11 pm Christmas day! The process is much quicker than I was expecting.
