Just checked - last year I found out May 4th and my friend found out May 1st. And people had been finding out since April 28th or 29th! They paused uploading results over the weekend of the 2nd/3rd.

Yeah I remember that. It was a disaster. I hope they fix it, this year. It was so bad that this page last year went to page 55 lol

FYI: All past years I've applied, the admin in my department have found out before SSHRC contacted me with the results. It's likely they may know now, but they're not "allowed" to tell us. I followed this forum closely and when people started finding out at UBC, I contacted my admin and they told me the results. 

Might be useful for those who are waiting post-April!

I know my school doesn't know yet - my supervisor and I were talking about it today because she keeps checking haha.  But yes, it's so frustrating that they find out but can't tell us! But then some places tell and some won't LOL.

It was TERRIBLE! So stressful. I hope they don't do the weekend between again, that was just cruel.

Question: On WebApps, my SSHRC app has disappeared. In the infamous heart attack email, it says results will be available on extranet and we'll have a separate email with instructions on how to activate the extranet account. I didn't get this email yet. Is that the same for you guys too and do we have to wait till the result notification to activate/access extranet?

Do we know when school admins find out so I know when to start harassing them? ?

Start with a polite "harassing" email. Let them know that you know that they are going to know before you know the results, but politely. In a subtle way say this waiting is killing me and stuff. Then every five days make the "harassing" email more direct till they give up and get tired of your emails and tell you "OK we will let you know as soon as we find out". This strategy usually works

Lol, yes, I'm thinking of asking an admin person who has always been super nice to me and told me some things (like results of TA apps) before the announcement. I won't actually harass her, just do something along the lines of what you mentioned -- politely ask. Question is when... ? Probably sometime mid- to late-next week?

Yes, I've not received the extranet instructions email and I assume (hope?) others have not either. Based on reading last year's thread, we should receive another email, likely next week, giving us access to the extranet, followed by yet another email notifying us that our results have been posted. However, some people last year found their results posted on the extranet before they received the notification email.

I've also been trying to piece together what the process looks like for uploading results on the administrative side at SSHRC. There doesn't seem to be any discernible logic to how/when applicants are notified (from what I can tell, it doesn't appear to be based on last name, applicant status, location, or whether an award was granted).

My current grand theory is that you are assigned an application number when you submit your application and then all applications are assigned in batches to different administrators who are responsible for uploading results and sending the emails. So when you get your results depends on when some poor admin--who probably just wants to get through the workday like the rest of us--gets to it amidst their other work. I used to work in an administrative role at a college where we had to notify people of results and it pretty much worked like this.

Anyone else have any grand theories?

Last year it definitely seemed to go by application number - everyone in my department that had been forwarded got our first emails at the same time. That said, there were some people in the thread last year that found out before other people in their school so ugh I don't know.

Yes - you'll get the email for the account probably closer to when they are going to release results. I got my email to signup/log in on a Friday (results had already been coming out since the Tues. I think) and then I got my results on the Monday after.

Yeah that’s my guess (and experience) as well.  There was no pattern in number, grouping, university, etc.  I hope they have more admins working this year!

So I was reading some other SSHRC related threads and apparently some people have started to hear back?? Does anyone know if this is accurate? I remember people receiving feedback at different times last year, so I really have no idea when I'm going to hear back.

What do you mean "hear back"? like an update on their application? or are you referring to the "heart attack" emails we've got and will be getting on instructions about how to check for the results.

if some people are hearing already and the rest of us have to wait, that seems super unfair... but I highly doubt this is happening!?

SSHRC storytellers was released this week, and SSHRC post-doc was recently released, I think. PhD SSHRC has not been released, yet.

Pfewww. That makes sense. Of course there are multiple SSHRC awards that people are hearing about. At this stage my brain has frozen and can't make logical observations LOL. I just NEED April to be over already LMAO in tears & misery.

So far I've been able to distill the following from everyone's comments and observations:

(1) We will be issued the results on a separate web platform than the one we submitted our application through;

(2) We do not yet have access to that platform, but we will be given access a few days before we receive the results;

(3) Some of us may receive access and/or results as early as April 26 or 27, but likely not. The most likely scenario is that we will receive these results on the 29th or 30th, and potentially as late as the 4th or 5th of May; and

(4) There does not appear to be any rational basis for when certain people receive access or results in relation to others.

So, with that, I'd say, distract the mind with other things and tune back into SSHRC land late next week to see what might have changed. Best of luck to all.
